Լեգենդար լուսանկարիչ Ռոբերտ Ֆրանկն ասել է. «Սևն ու սպիտակը լուսանկարչության գույներն են։ Ինձ համար դրանք ալտերնատիվն են հույսի ու հիասթափության, որոնք հավերժ ուղեկցում են մարդկությանը»։
Դժվար է չհամաձայնել Ռոբերտի հետ, մինչդեռ միևնույն ժամանակ չենք կարող չխոստովանել, որ գունավոր լուսանկարները մի մեծ առավելություն ունեն սև ու սպիտակ լուսանկարների նկատմամբ. դա նրանց անմիջականությունն է։
Գունավոր պատմական լուսանկարները, որոնք շատ քիչ են հանդիպում, մեզ հիշեցնում են, որ դրանցում պատկերված են մեզ նման իրական մարդիկ, այլ ոչ թե լոկ արարածներ անցյալից։ Սև ու սպիտակ լուսանկարներն իրենց մեջ պահում են շունչ ու հոգի, բայց գունավորները՝ թարմություն ու արյուն։
