Ինչպես գիտենք սուրճը բոլորիս առօրյայում բավականին մեծ տեղ է զբաղեցնում։ Գրեթե բոլոր աշխատող մարդիկ օրը 2-3 բաժակ, նույնիսկ ավելին են այս ըմպելիքից խմում, եթե ոչ հաճույք ստանալու, ապագոնե՝ թարմանալու, աշխատանքային ժամերին ժամանակավորապես առույգանալու համար։ Շատերն անգամ առավոտյան նախաճաշի փոխարեն նախընտրում են միայն սուրճ ըմպել։
Հաշվի առնելով սուրճի հաճախականությունը՝ արդեն տևական ժամանակ է գիտնականներն ուսումնասիրում են սուրճի՝ մարդու օրգանիզմի վրա ունեցած ազդեցությունը: Նրանց վերջապես հաջողվեց պարզել, որ սուրճը կարող է նույնիսկ պաշտպանել որոշակի հիվանդություններից:

Հետազոտությունները ապացուցել են, որ կոֆեինը սահմափակում է որոշակի ազդանշանային ուղիները բջիջներում, որոնց օգնությամբ մեր բջիջների ներսում տեղեկություն է հաղորդվում։ Սուրճի շնորհիվ արգելակվում է ազդանշանների հաղորդումը, որոնք նպաստում են նյարդային հիվանդությունների ծերունական հիվանդությունների առաջացմանը։
Ցիրոզ եւ լյարդի այլ հիվանդություններ
Օրական լրացուցիչ երկու բաժակ սուրճը նվազեցնում է լյարդի ցիռոզի զարգացման ռիսկը 44 տոկոսով, ինչպես նաև իջեցնում է այդ հիվանդության մահացությունը 50 տոկոսով: Սաութհեմփթոնի և Էդինբուրգի համալսարանների գիտնականների խումբը 400 հազար մարդու մասնակցությամբ հետազոտություն է անցկացրել, որի արդյունքում նրանց հաջողվել է ապացուցել, որ գոյություն ունի կապ սուրճի օգտագործման և լյարդի հիվանդության վտանգի նվազեցման միջև: Հետազոտության արդյունքների համաձայն՝ սուրճի շատ օգտագործումը միանշանակ իջեցնում է ցիռոզի զարգացման ռիսկը:
Օրգանիզմի ծերացում
Օրգանիզմի ծերացումը հիվանդություն են համարում կամ առնվազն օրգանիզմի աշխատանքի խանգարում, որը կարելի է նաև բուժել եւ կանխարգելել: Սուրճը նման կանխարգելիչ միջոցներից մեկն է: Գիտնակնները պարզել են, որ կոֆեինը նույն տեսակի արդյունք է ունենում, ինչպիսին կալորիաների սահմանափակումը:
Շաքարախտ
ԱՄՆ-ի քիմիկոսները բացահայտել են, որ կանաչ սուրճի հատիկներում կան շաքարախտ ունեցող հիվանդների արյան մեջ գլյուկոզան և շաքարի այլ տեսակների քանակն իջեցնող տարրեր:
Սուրճը մեծացնում է գլյուկոզայի նկատմամբ ենթաստամոքսային գեղձի զգայունությունը, որը օրգանիզմը ստանում է սնունդի հետ: Դրա շնորհիվ ենթաստամոքսային գեղձը ավելի կայուն է դառնում արյան մեջ շաքարի անկման հանդեպ, որը նվազեցնում է շաքարախտի առաջացման հավանականությունը:
