Օստեոպորոզը հիվանդություն է, որի դեպքում ոսկրային հյուսվածքների կորստի արդյունքում ոսկորները շատ փխրուն են դառնում: Այս հիվանդությունը կարող է մարդուն հաշմանդամ դարձնել կամ նույնիսկ սպանել նրան:

Քլիվլենդի կլինիկան ներկայացնող Չադ Դիլի խոսքով՝ ազդրի ոսկորի կոտրվածքով մարդկանց քսան տոկոսը մահանում է մեկ տարվա ընթացքում: Այդ պատճառով պետք է ժամանակին բուժօգնություն ստանալ:

Օստեոպորոզն ու կոտրվածքները ծերանալու պարտադիր բաղադրիչը չեն, եւ մի շարք գործոններ ազդում են այդ խնդիրների ի հայտ գալու հավանականության վրա: Ավելին՝ պետք է  ընդամենը 3 հասարակ միջոց՝ ոսկորները ավելի առողջ ու ամուր դարձնելու համար:

Կալցիումը նախընտրելի է ստանալ սննդամթերքից` կաթնամթերքից, ընկուզեղենից, կանաչ բանջարեղենից (կալե ու բրոկոլի): Անհրաժեշտության դեպքում կարելի է նաեւ կալցիումային հավելումներ ընդունել: Կալիումի՝ չափահաս մարդու համար նախատեսված օրական չափաբաժինը 1200 միլիգրամ է կազմում:
