«Ավրորա» մրցանակի հավակնորդ Թոմ Քաթինան կհանդիպի բժշկական համալսարանի ուսանողներին

«Ավրորա» մրցանակի հավակնորդ բժիշկ ԹոմՔաթինան մայիսի 22-ին բժշկական համալսարանում հանդիպելու է ապագա բժիշկների հետ: «Արմենպրես»-ի հաղորդմամբ` 750 000 բնակիչ ունեցող Նուբա լեռներում (Սուդան) մշտական գործունեություն ծավալող միակ վիրաբույժն օրուգիշեր ջանք չի խնայում հոգալու պատերազմից ավերված այս տարածաշրջանի բնակիչների բուշման կաիքները։ Սուդանի կառավարության եւ Սուդանի ազգային ազատագրական շարժման միջեւ բռնկված քաղաքացիական պատերազմի բոլոր տարիներին Թոմն անթիվ մարդկանց կյանքեր է փրկել «Գթության մայր» հիվանդանոցում, որը միակ գործող հիվանդանոցն է ամբողջ տարածաշրջանում։ Բժիշկ Թոմ Քաթինան, ում տեղացիները ճանաչում են որպես «դոկտոր Թոմ», պատերազմը սկսելուց ի վեր անդադար աշխատել է՝ հնարավորինս մեղմելու պատերազմի սարսափները։ Ռմբակոծության տակ բեկորներ հեռացնելը, վերջույթներ անդամահատելն ու ծնունդներ ընդունելը սովորական բան են դարձել մի մարդու համա ր, որին Կաթոլիկ առողջապահական առաքելության խորհուրդը (CMMB) տարածաշրջան էր գործուղել դեռեւս խաղաղ ժամանակներում։
Երբ պատերազմ սկսվեց, նրան առաջարկեցին դուրս գալ երկրից, բայց բժիշկը պնդեց, որ կմնա։ «Երբեք չեմ ափսոսացել այդ որոշմանս համար,– ասում է Թոմ Քաթինան, - այստեղ առավել, քան երբեւէ իմ կարիքն ունեին։ Ես չէի կարող ուղղակի վերցնել ու լքել մարդկանց, որոնց բախտի բերմամբ սկսել էի ճանաչել հենց այն պահին, երբ նրանք բոլորից շատ ունեին աջակցության կարիք։ Ամենակարեւորն այստեղ մարդիկ են: Այն, ինչ նրանք անում են, չի դադարում ինձ հիացնել»։
Քաթինան մարդկանց օգնության է հասնում օրական 24 ժամ, շաբաթը յոթ օր, եւ նրա կարեւորագույն առաջնահերթությունն այն է, որ հիվանդանոցը կարողանա տրամադրել տարրական բուժօգնություն։ Էլեկտրաէներգիայի ու հոսող ջրի առկայությունը սահմանափակ է, չկա մշտական հեռախոսակապ։ Լինում է, որ մարդիկ մեկ շաբաթվա ճանապարհ են կտրում՝ հիվանդանոց հասնելու համար, ուր բացակայում են անգամ կենսական անհրաժեշտության այնպիսի գործիքներ, ինչպիսին, օրինակ, ռենտգենյան սարքավորումն է։ Բժշկական պարագաները սահմանափակ են, հաճախ՝ պարզապես չկան։
