Վտանգավոր իրավիճակում կանայք հակված են գործելիս առաջնորդվել հույզերով: Տղամարդիկ հենվում են ավելի շատ գիտակցության, առողջ բանականության եւ տրամաբանության վրա: Վարքագծի նման տարբերություններն ի հայտ են գալիս նաեւ մեքենա վարելիս:

Վիճակագրության համաձայն՝ ճանապարհներին կանանց մասնակցությամբ դժբախտ պատահարների թիվն ավելի քիչ է: Բայց այս իրավիճակը շարունակվում է այնքան ժամանակ, քանի դեռ կին վարորդի պահվածքը ստանդարտ իրավիճակում է:

Էքստրեմալ իրավիճակում ղեկին կնոջ անվտանգությունն ու հուսալիությունը կտրուկ նվազում է՝ ի տարբերություն տղամարդու: Այս ամենը գրեթե միշտ պայմանավորված է այն հանգամանքով, որ կանայք սթրեսի ժամանակ եւ ճանապարհին ոչ ստանդարտ պայմաններում ավելի շուտ են հոգնում:

Կնոջ հուզականությունը կյանքի բացասական իրավիճակներում նրա կողմից ոչ ադեկվատ գործողությունների ու վթարային իրադրություն ստեղծելու անմիջական նախանշան է, ինչը նվազեցնում է նրա պաշտպանվածությունն ու մեքենա վարելու անվտանգությունը:

Տղաների վրա այդ պատճառները չեն ազդում, եւ որպես դրա հետեւանք՝ տղամարդը վստահ է իր վարելու անվտանգության եւ հուսալիության մեջ: Թեպետ այսօր մեքենաներն այնպիսի անվտանգության միջոցներով են հագեցած, որ թույլ են տալիս նվազագույնի հասցնել կանանց եւ տղամարդկանց, ինչպես նաեւ նորեկի եւ ավելի հմուտ վարորդի միջեւ վարելու տարբերությունը:

Օրինակ, դուք գիտեք, որ հարսանիքի համար մեքենա պատվիրելիս BMW եւ Mercedes-ի այդ նոր քրոսովերների ավելի թանկ տարբերակներն ունեն ավտոմատ կայանելու հնարավորություն, որի օգնությամբ վարորդը պետք է միայն օգնի մեքենային՝ կատարելով համակարգի հրահանգները եւ սեղմելով գազի կամ արգելակման ոտնակը:

Մնացած դեպքերում մեքենայի անվտանգ ու հուսալի վարելու պատկերը հակառակ սեռերի մոտ մոտավորապես հետեւյալն է: Երթեւեկության կանոններին հետեւելու կանանց հակումը նպաստում է նրան,  որ նրանք ավելի քիչ են վթարի պատճառ դառնում ճանապարհին:

Իսկ տղամարդիկ կարող են առանց վթարային իրավիճակ ստեղծելու դուրս գալ էքստրեմալ վիճակից: Տղամարդկանց եւ կանանց հոգեբանության այդ  նույն առանձնահատկություններն անդրադառնում են նաեւ նրանց կողմից ստեղծված վթարային իրավիճակների վրա:

Եթե կանայք տառապում են վթարային իրավիճակներում ավելորդ զգուշավորության եւ անվճռականության պատճառով, ապա տղամարդիկ սեփական ինքնավստահության, ուժերի եւ հնարավորությունների գերագնահատման պատճառով վթարի մեջ են հայտնվում:

Առաջնորդվելով վախով՝ կանայք հաճախ են արգելակում այնտեղ, որտեղ պետք է արագ վարել: Դրանով իսկ պակասում է մեքենայով մանեւրելու հնարավորությունը եւ տեղի է ունենում վթար: Կանայք ավելի հազվադեպ են խոստովանում իրենց մեղքը, ասում են հոգեբանները: Այստեղ գործում է կանացի համառությունը:

Տղամարդիկ նախընտրում են խոստովանել, որ սխալ են վարվել՝ ընդ որում անելով ամեն բան իրենց նպատակին հասնելու համար:
