Գիտնականները հայտնել են՝ որն է աշխարհի ամենաաղտոտված կղզին (լուսանկարներ)

Վերջերս անցկացված հետազոտության արդյունքում ամերիկացի գիտնականները հայտնաբերել են՝ որն է աշխարհի ամենաաղտոտված կղզին: Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences գիտական ամսագրում հրապարակված հոդվածում ասվում է, որ դա Խաղաղ օվկիանոսի հարավային մասում գտնվող Հենդերսոն անմարդաբնակ կորալյան կղզին է:

Կղզին այնքան հեռու է գտնվում օվկիանոսում, որ մասնագետներն այն այցելում են 5-10 տարին մեկ՝ հետազոտական նպատակներով: Վերջին այցելության ժամանակ նրանք պարզել են, որ կղզու վրա ընդհանուր առմամբ գտնվում է մոտ 17 տոննա պլաստիկ՝ մոտ 671 աղբի մաս մեկ քառակուսի մետր տարածքի վրա:

Նշվում է, որ կղզին այնպես է տեղակայված, որ ջրի հոսանքներն այնտեղ են բերում Հարավային Ամերիկայից և ձկնորսական նավերից եկող աղբը: Փաստացիորեն, այստեղ ավելի շատ աղբ կա. գիտնականների խոսքով՝ իրենք ուսումնասիրել են աղբի միայն այն մասերը, որոնք մեծ են երկու միլիմետրից և գտնվում են առավելագույնը 10 սանտիմետր խորության վրա: Հետազոտողները դեռևս չեն ուսումնասիրել ժայռերի և ժայռապատ առափնյա գոտու աղտոտումը:

Հետազոտության հեղինակների հաղորդմամբ՝ կղզու վիճակը ցուցադրում է պլաստիկ աղբով աղտոտվելու անխուսափելիությունը: Հայտնի է, որ տարեկան արտադրվում է ավելի քան 300 միլիոն տոննա պլաստիկ, որի հիմնական մասը չի վերամշակվում՝ արդյունքում ընկնելով օվկիանոս և վնաս հասցնելով դրա բնակիչներին:
