Exciting: The atmosphere was incredible on the carpet as an endless string of photographers snapped away at the celebrities

Preparations underway: Staff had been busy preparing the famous red carpeted steps all day at the stunning Palais des Festivals

Gorgeous: Falling into a saucy semi-sheer V neck at the top, the dress then upped the glamour with its stunning tulle skirt, which fell beneath a chiffon layer of shimmering red crystals

Still got it: The beauty, who rose to fame in the 1990s, proved she only got better with age as she flashed her winning smile at the cameras

Snapping away: The stars were surrounded by endless photographers as they documented the girls' time on the carpet

Star quality: Stealing the limelight from the young whippersnappers however was Susan Sarandon, who proved her effortless sense of style and glamour has certainly not faded over the years

Stunning: As a young muse of Chanel director Karl Lagerfeld, the 17-year-old's striking natural beauty was clear for all to see as she left her hair in simple curls, and added glowing make-up to her enviably clear skin

Pose for me: Lily-Ross proved her blossoming talent as a model as she posed effortlessly for cameras

Beautiful: Her stunning facial features, accentuated with a soft nude lip and delicate black eyeliner, were clear for all to see as she stunned cameras
