Հարվարդի համալսարանի փորձագետները «սրճային» խոշորածավալ հետազոտություն են անցկացրել: Մի քանի տարի նրանք հետեւել են ավելի քան 130 հազար սրճամոլ կամավորների առողջական վիճակին: «Նույնիսկ այն մասնակիցները, որոնք օրական միջինը 6 գավաթից ավելի են սուրճ խմում, մահացության սիրտ-անոթային ծանր հիվանդությունների վտանգի մեծացում չի հայտնաբերվել»,- ասել է Հասարակական առողջության Հարվարդի դպրոցի առողջ սնունդի ֆակուլտետի պրոֆեսոր Ռոբ Վան Դամը:

Ինչից է օգնում խուսափել բուրավետ ըմպելիքը Նեյրոդեգեներատիվ հիվանդություններ. Ալցհեյմերի, Պարկինսոնի հիվանդություններ Հետազոտություններով պարզվել է, որ կոֆեինը բջիջներում արգելափակում է որոշակի ազդանշանային ուղիները՝ մոլեկուլների հերթագայությունը, որոնց օգնությամբ մեր բջիջներին տարբեր պրոցեսներ գործարկող տեղեկություններ են հաղորդվում: Սուրճի շնորհիվ արգելակվում է ազդանշանների հաղորդումը, որոնք նպաստում են նյարդային համակարգի ծերունական հիվանդությունների զարգացմանը: Ցիրոզ եւ լյարդի այլ հիվանդություններ Հետազոտողները զարմանալի փաստ են հայտնաբերել. ալկոհոլամոլները, որոնք կանոնավորապես սուրճ են խմում, ավելի հազվադեպ են լյարդի ցիրոզով հիվանդանում:

Պարզվել է, որ օրգանիզմում համապատասխան ազդանշանային ուղիների արգելափակման օգնությամբ կոֆեինը նաեւ օժտված է հեպատահովանավորչական ազդեցությամբ, այսինքն՝ ուժեղացնում է լյարդի բջիջների կայունությունը ալկոհոլի բացասական ներգործության նկատմամբ: Միայն թե ոչ մի դեպքում չփորձեք լյարդը պաշտպանելու համար սուրճը ալկոհոլի հետ խմել, նախազգուշացնում են փորձագետները: Կոֆեինը նպաստում է ալկոհոլի ներթափանցմանը ուղեղ՝ հարբածությունը սաստկացնելով: Նախասրտերի ֆիբրիլյացիա կամ շողացող առիթմիա Գիտական տվյալները վկայում են, որ այս տարածված սրտային հիվանդությունը սրճամոլների շրջանում հազվադեպ է առաջանում:
