Բազմաթիվ են մարդու սնկային հիվանդությունները: Նրանք ախտահարում են մաշկը, եղունգները, մազերը, լորձաթաղանթները և սովորաբար փոխանցվում են կենցաղային ճանապաչհով՝ առօրյա իրերի միջոցով:
Սակայն կան նաև այնպիսի սնկային հիվանդություններ, որոնք փոխանցվում են սեռական շփման ժամանակ: Դրանցից առավել ուշագրավ է կանդիդա սնկերով հարուցվող կանդիդոզ հիվանդությունը: Սեռական օրգանների կանդիդոզը հանդիպում է բոլոր տարիքի կանանց մոտ, արտահայտվում է արտաքին սեռական օրգանների բորբոքման ձևով, որն ուղեկցվում է կարմրությամբ, այտուցով և քորով:
Բավական հաճախ լինում է սպիտակագորշավուն արտադրություն, տեղ-տեղ առաջանում է փառ, որն ամուր «նստած» է լինում լորձաթաղանթին: Երբեմն ախտահարումն անցնում է սեռական օրգանների և շեքի շրջակա մաշկին: Հիվանդներն սկսում են գանգատվել հաճախամիզությունից, կոտրող ցավերից՝ միզելու և սեռական հարաբերության ժամանակ, որի հետևանքով երբեմն անհնար է դառնում սեռական կյանքը: Այս ամենը բնորոշ է հիվանդության սուր շրջանին: Քրոնիկական փուլում հիվանդության նշանները սովորաբար մարում և իսպառ վերանում են:
Առաջնային կանդիդոզի դեպքում ապաքինման հեռանկարը բարենպաստ է, երբ հիվանդությունը ժամանակին ախտորոշվում և բուժվում է: Երկրորդային կանդիդոզի ժամանակ, երբ գործընթացը զարգացել է այլ հիվանդությունների հիման վրա, առողջացումը գլխավորապես կախված է նրանց բուժումից:
