Իսկական ընկերուհուն կարելի է պատմել ցանկացած խնդրի մասին: Նրա հետ կարելի է խոսել գաղտնիքներից, արտասվել, ծիծաղել եւ մոռանալ անհանգստությունները: Բայց ի՞նչ անել, եթե հանկարծ գիտակցում ես, որ աջակցության փոխարեն նախանձ ես զգում: 

«Նախանձը հասկանալն ամենեւին էլ դժվար չէ: Իսկ ուրիշ ի՞նչ մտածել, եթե մարդը լռում կամ խոժոռվում է ձեր կյանքում տեղի ունեցած լավ իրադարձությունների մասին պատմության ընթացքում:

Երբեմն ավելի վատ է լինում. արժանի համաձայնության փոխարեն լսում ես ինչ-որ անհասկանալի բան, ասենք՝ «Դա հիմարություն է: Եվ, ընդհանրապես, պարզապես մեկ անգամ բախտդ բերեց եւ վերջ: Դա այնքան էլ մեծ հաջողություն չէ, ինչպես դու ես պատմում...»: Վիրավորակա՞ն է: Այո՛: Փոխարենը միանգամից պարզ է, որ նախանձ է:

Հարկավոր է հասկանալ, որ ունենալ ինչ-որ բան, ինչ ուրիշն ունի, իսկ դու՝ ոչ, միշտ չէ, որ վատ է:

Հետեւելով ինչ-որ մեկի ձեռքբերումներին եւ հստակ հասկանալով, որ նման հաջողություններ ես ցանկանում, կարելի է իրականում մոտիվացվել եւ հասնել այդ ամենին:

Օրինակ, եթե ընկերուհիդ ավտոմեքենա է գնել, իսկ դու հանկարծ հասկանում ես, որ դա հրաշալի է, գործնականում թեթեւացնում է խնդիրները: Այդ պատճառով հավելյալ աշխատանք ես գտնում, վարկ ես վերցնում եւ քո սեփական «երկաթե ձին» ես գնում: Նույն զգացմունքը քո հանդեպ կարող է ունենալ ընկերուհիդ: Նա նույնպես ցանկանում է մեքենա ունենալ, ամուսնանալ, երեխա ունենալ եւ այլն:

Նախքան ընկերուհուդ նախանձելու համար մեղադրելը մտածիր. գուցե դա նրան իսկապե՞ս կօգնի հասնել ինչ-որ բանի, փոխել կյանքը, վերաիմաստավորել առաջնահերթությունները: Իսկ ինչո՞ւ ոչ: Մի՞թե ինքդ կսկսես նախանձել, եթե նա ինչ-որ ձեռքբերում ունենա:

Այլ հարց է ապակառուցողական նախանձը: Այսինքն՝ ընկերուհին նախանձում է եւ չի ամաչում այդ մասին հայտնել քեզ ու երրորդ անձի, բայց մատը մատին չի խփում սեփական կյանքում նման բան ստեղծելու համար: Ապակառուցողական է նաեւ մանրախնդիր նախանձը, օրինակ՝ նոր հագուստի համար նախանձելը:

Իսկ հնարավո՞ր է ապակառուցողական նախանձը վերափոխել կառուցողականի: Համենայն դեպս, արժե փորձել:

Սկզբի համար ընկերուհուդ որեւէ օգնություն առաջարկիր, որտեղ, ըստ նրա, չի կարողանում երկնքից աստղեր իջեցնել: Եթե նրան դուր են գալիս քո հագուստները, ուրեմն առաջարկիր միասին շրջել խանութներով:

Եթե նա իսկապես գնահատում է քո ոճը, ապա, հնարավոր է, կհետեւի քո խորհուրդներին: Իսկ եթե դա միայն նախանձի ձայնն է, ստիպված կլինի լռեցնել, քանի որ այս դեպքում արդեն հավասար հնարավորություններ ունեք տեսականին ուսումնասիրելու եւ ինչ-որ բան ընտրելու հարցում:

Բայց եթե փորձում ես օգնել մեկ, երկու, երեք անգամ, իսկ ընկերուհիդ չի գնահատում քո ջանքերն ու շարունակում է նախանձել, արժե՞, արդյոք, շարունակել»:
