Հռոմի Ֆրանցիսկոս պապը եւ ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը քննարկել են միջազգային հակամարտությունների, մասնավորապես, մերձավորարեւելյան տարածաշրջանի հակամարտության խաղաղ կարգավորման ուղիները: Այդ մասին մայիսի 24-ին հայտնել Է Սուրբ Աթոռի մամուլի ծառայությունը՝ ամփոփելով Հռոմի կաթոլիկ եկեղեցու ղեկավարի եւ ԱՄՆ-ի նիախագահի միջեւ կայացած հանդիպման արդյունքները:
«Զրույցի ընթացքում կարծիքներ են փոխանակվել միջազգային օրակարգի մի շարք թեմաների եւ քաղաքական գործընթացի ու միջկրոնական երկխոսության միջոցով խաղաղության հաստատման ուղիների շուրջ: Ընդսմին առանձնակի ուշադրություն Է դարձվել Մերձավոր Արեւելքի եւ քրիստոնեական համայնքների պաշտպանության թեմային»,-ասված Է հաղորդագրության մեջ: 
Զրույցի ընթացքում կողմերը նշել են Սուրբ Աթոռի եւ ԱՄՆ-ի միջեւ հարաբերությունների բարձր մակարդակը, ինչպես նաեւ հավատի եւ խղճմտանքի ազատության պաշտպանության ընդհանուր ձգտումը:
«Վատիկանը եւ ԱՄՆ-ը հույս ունեն ամրապնդել համագործակցությունն այնպիսի բնագավառներում, ինչպիսիք են առողջապահությունը, կրթությունը եւ գաղթականներին ցուցաբերվող օգնույթունը»,-նշվում Է փաստաթղթում:
Թրամփի հետ Ֆրանցիսկոսի դեմ առ դեմ զրույցը շարունակվել Է 30 րոպե: Բացի այդ, ԱՄՆ-ի նախագահը բանակցություններ Է վարել Վատիկանի պետական քարտուղար (կառավարության ղեկավար) Պիետրո Պարոլինի եւ պետությունների հետ հարաբերությունների գծով քարտուղար արքեպիսկոպոս Պոլ Ռիչարդ Գալահերի հետ, հաղորդել Է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
