ԱՄՆ-ում ՀՀ դեսպանությունում տեղի է ունեցել ընդունելություն Հայաստանի Հանրապետության անկախության տոնի կապակցությամբ: Ինչպես տեղեկացրեցին ՀՀ ԱԳՆ մամուլի, տեղեկատվության եւ հասարակայնության հետ կապերի վարչությունից, ընդունելությանը ներկա են եղել ԱՄՆ պետքաքտուղարի գլխավոր փոխտեղակալ դեսպան Ջոն Հեֆերնը, ԵԱՀԿ Մինսկի խմբի ԱՄՆ համանախագահ դեսպան Ջեյմս Ուորլիքը, ԱՄՆ պետքարտուղարության և պաշտպանության քարտուղարության պաշտոնյաներ, ԱՄՆ-ում հավատարմագրված դիվանագետներ և ռազմական կցորդներ, ինչպես նաև ԱՄՆ արևելյան ափի հայ համայնքի և համայնքային հիմնական կառույցների, ներառյալ՝ Հայաստանյայց Առաքելական Եկեղեցու, Հայ դատի գրասենյակի և Ամերիկայի Հայկական համագումարի բազմաթիվ ներկայացուցիչներ:
Համառոտ կերպով անդրադառնալով անկախության 24 տարիների ընթացքում ձեռք բերած նվաճումներին՝ ԱՄՆ-ում ՀՀ դեսպան Տիգրան Սարգսյանը շնորհակալություն է հայտնել ԱՄՆ-ի կողմից Հայաստանին ցուցաբերած մշտական օժանդակության համար: Նա հյուրերի ուշադրությունը հրավիրել է այսօր Հայաստանի առջև ծառացած մարտահրավերների վրա՝ շեշտելով միաժամանակ դրանք հաղթահարելու հայ ժողովրդի և Հայաստանի իշխանությունների մեծ վճռականությունը: Ընդգծելով Հայաստանի անվտանգության ապահովման և տնտեսական զարգացման առումով ՌԴ-ի հետ ունեցած ռազմավարական համագործակցության, ինչպես նաև ՀԱՊԿ-ում և ԵԱՏՄ-ում մասնակցության կենսական նշանակությունը՝ դեսպանը նաև ընդգծել է եվրոպական երկրների, Եվրոպական միության և ԱՄՆ հետ ամենատարբեր բնագավառներում վերընթաց զարգացում ապրող համագործակցության փաստը: Հայ-ամերիկյան հարաբերությունների վերընթաց զարգացման մասին են վկայում ամերիկյան «Կոնտուր Գլոբալ» ընկերության նշանակալից ներդրումները և կողմերի միջև վերջերս ստորագրված՝ «Առևտրի և ներդրումների շրջանակային պայմանագիրը»: Վերջինս լայն հեռանկար է ստեղծում առևտրատնտեսական համագործակցության խթանման համար:
Ելույթով հանդես է եկել նաև Ջոն Հեֆերնը, որը գոհունակությամբ նշել է երկկողմ հարաբերություններում առկա դրական դինամիկան և այն պահպանելու շուրջ ԱՄՆ հանձնառությունը: Միջոցառման ընթացքում դեսպան Սարգսյանը ՀՀ Նախագահի հրամանագրով շնորհված պարգևներ է հանձնել ամերիկահայ համայնքի ներկայացուցիչներին՝ բարերար Ժիրայր Նշանյանին (Երախտագիտության մեդալ) և ԱՄՆ Կոնգրեսի գրադարանի գիտաշխատող, հայագետ Լևոն Ավդոյանին (Մովսես Խորենացու մեդալ):
