Հաճախ մենք նոր մարզակոշիկ գնելու որոշում կայացնում ենք այն ժամանակ, երբ հինը պատռվել կամ շատ է մաշվել: Բայց քչերը գիտեն, որ եթե մարզակոշիկը լավ տեսք ունի, դեռ չի նշանակում է, որ այն չի կորցրել «մարզավիճակը»: Դա կարեւոր է հատկապես վազքի համար նախատեսված մարզակոշիկների պարագայում:

Առաջին հայացքից թվում է, որ կարտոֆիլի պարագայում ամեն ինչ պարզ ու հասկանալի է. եթե չի փչացել, կարելի է ուտել: Իրականում ամեն ինչ շատ ավելի լուրջ է ու բարդ:
Կարտոֆիլը կարող է մարդու համար վնասակար նյութ պարունակել՝ սոլանին թունավոր քիմիկատ: Սովորական կարտոֆիլում այն նվազագույն քանակությամբ է եւ ոչ մի վնաս չի հասցնում:
Բայց երկար պահված կարտոֆիլի պարագայում, որը սկսել է կանաչել կամ ծիլ տալ, բոլորովին այլ է իրավիճակը: «Տարեց» կարտոֆիլի մեջ սոլանինի մակարդակն այնքան է մեծանում, որ վտանգավոր է դառնում մարդու առողջության համար:
Սոլանինը բուսական ծագման ալկալոիդ է, որը կարտոֆիլի մեջ կազմավորվում է դրա վրա լույս ընկնելու ժամանակ: Այդ կերպ կարտոֆիլը պաշտպանվում է միջատներից եւ կենդանիներից, բայց սոլանինը կարող է նաեւ մարդու համար վտանգավոր լինել: Որպեսզի կարտոֆիլի մեջ սոլանին չձեւավորվի, հարկավոր է այն պահպանել մութ վայրում:
