Ամերիկացի լուսանկարիչ Ջեյմս Ֆրիդմանի մայրը, ինչպես և մայրերի զգալի մեծամասնությունը, միշտ գաղտնիք է եղել իր որդու համար: Նա եղել է հրաշալի, բայց և միևնույն ժամանակ բարդ մարդ: Կինը մշտապես ողջունել է իր որդու` այդչափ սերն ու հետաքրքրությունը լուսանկարչության հանդեպ և դարձել նրա առաջին մոդելներից մեկը, երբ տղան ընդամենը 9 տարեկան էր: Ինչպես նշել էլուսանկարիչը, մայրն իրեն չի համբուրել, անգամ երբ ինքը երեխա է եղել:
 
Ինչպես հայտնում է Bigpicture կայքը, Դորոտի Գիլբերտ Ֆրիդմանը սկսել է ծխել դեռևս 11 տարեկան հասակում և 47 տարի շարունակ չի կարողացել ազատվել այս սովորությունից: Նրա որդու հեղինակած լուսանկարների մեծ մասը մտել է «1 029 398 ծխախոտ» կոչվող նախագծի մեջ: Այս ցուցանիշը կնոջ օգտագործած ծխախոտի քանակն է մինչև այն պահը, երբ նա հիվանդանոց է ընկել և մահացել էմֆիզեմայից:
 
Լուսանկարչը աղբյուրին պատմել է, որ սկզբում մայրն ամաչել է տեսախցիկից, սակայն ժամանակի ընթացքում սովորել է նույնիս իրեն լավ զգալ նկարահանումների ընթացքում: Ֆրիդմանը հաճախակի է այցելել իր մայրիկին, երբ նա հիվանդանոցում կամ ծերանոցում է եղել: Հենց այդ այցելությունների ժամանակ նրանք վերջում համբուրել են իրար` կյանքում առաջին անգամ իրար հետ անցկացված տարիների ընթացքում:
 
Լուսանկարիչը աղբյուրին պատմել է, որ մայրը երբեք չի սիրել լուսանկարվել և միշտ խնամված ու կոկիկ է եղել, սակայն որդուն թույլ է տվել նկարահանել իրեն կոպիտ և նույնիսկ տհաճ հանգամանքներում` չնայած բժշկական գործընթացներին ու ցավին:
Ֆրիդմանը լուսանկարելիս է այդ համբույրներից մեկը, և մի քանի ժամ անց մահացել է նրա մայրը:
