 Հունիսի 6-ը  համաշխարհային ճանաչում ունեցող կոմպոզիտոր Արամ Խաչատրյանի ծննդյան օրն է: Այս տարի նշվում է մեծանուն կոմպոզիտորի 114-ամյակը: Արամ Խաչատրյանի ստեղծագործությունները համաշխարհային երաժշտական գանձարանի նմուշներից են: Նրա անունը հայտնի է ամբողջ աշխարհում, ստեղծագործությունները կատարվում են աշխարհի բոլոր անկյուններում:

ՅՈՒՆԵՍԿՕ-ն Խաչատրյանին դասում է 20-րդ դարի ամենահայտնի կոմպոզիտորների շարքը. մեր ժամանակների հանրածանոթ ստեղծագործությունների ցուցակում առաջնային տեղերում են նրա Երկրորդ սիմֆոնիան, Դաշնամուրի կոնցերտը, «Սպարտակ», «Գայանե» բալետները և այլն:

Արամ Խաչատրյանը ծնվել է 1903 թ. հունիսի 6-ին  Թիֆլիսի Կոջոր արվարձանում, կազմարարի ընտանիքում: «Հին Թիֆլիսը հնչուն, երաժշտական քաղաք է: Բավական էր անցնել կենտրոնից քիչ հեռու գտնվող փողոցներով ու նրբանցքներով, որպեսզի մխրճվեիր ամենատարբեր աղբյուրներից ստեղծված երաժշտական մթնոլորտի մեջ ...»,- հետագայում գրում է Խաչատրյանը:

Բազմերանգ երաժշտական մթնոլորտն իր ազդեցությունը թողեց Խաչատրյանի ստեղծագործությունների վրա: Նրա երաժշտությունը չէր սահմանափակվում նեղ ազգային շրջանակներով և նախատեսված էր ամենալայն լսարանի համար: Խաչատրյանը մեծ հարգանք ու կենդանի հետաքրքրություն էր ցուցաբերում տարբեր ժողովուրդների երաժշտության նկատմամբ:

Չնայած Ա. Խաչատրյանի երաժշտական ընդունակությունները ի հայտ են եկել վաղ հասակում, այնուհանդերձ նոտաները նա սովորել է 19 տարեկանում: Դա 1922 թվականն էր, երբ կոմպոզիտորն եկավ Մոսկվա և ընդունվեց  Գնեսինների անվան երաժշտական ուսումնարան: Միաժամանակ նա սովորում էր Մոսկվայի համալսարանում՝ ստանալով կենսաբանական կրթություն:

1929 թ. ընդունվել է Մոսկվայի պետական կոնսերվատորիա՝ սովորելով հայտնի կոմպոզիտոր Նիկոլայ Յակովլևիչ Մյասկովսկու մոտ: Խաչատրյանի վրա անջնջելի տպավորություն է թողել 1933 թվականին Սերգեյ Պրոկոֆևի այցելությունը Մյասկովսկու դասարան: Երիտասարդ կոմպոզիտորը հիացած էր հանճարեղ Պրոկոֆևի արվեստով:

 Կարճ ժամանակում նա հնարավորություն է ստանում համերգներով հանդես գալ Մոսկվայի կոնսերվատորիայի մեծ ու փոքր դահլիճներում:

Խաչատրյան-կոմպոզիտորի հանճարն առավել վառ կերպով դրսևորվել է նրա սիմֆոնիկ ստեղծագործություններում: 1942-ին Խաչատրյանն ավարտում է Կ. Դերժավինի լիբրետոյով գրված «Գայանե» բալետը, որտեղ սինթեզում է դասական բալետի, ազգային երաժշտության ու խորեոգրաֆիկ արվեստի ավանդույթները: «Գայանե»-ն այժմ հայրենական և արտասահմանյան թատրոնների երկացանկի անբաժանելի մասն է: Մեծ ճանաչում ստացան նաև բալետի երաժշտությունից կազմված երեք սիմֆոնիկ սյուիտները:

Խաչատրյանի հասուն շրջանի ստեղծագործությունների շարքում մեծ տեղ է զբաղեցնում դրամատիկ ներկայացումների համար գրված երաժշտությունը: Այդ ժանրի լավագույն գործերից են «Վալենսիայի այրին» և «Դիմակահանդեսը»: Այդ ներկայացումների երաժշտության հիման վրա գրված սիմֆոնիկ սյուիտներն ինքնուրույն համերգային կյանք են ստացել և հաճախ են կատարվում մեր օրերում:

Խաչատրյանի կյանքում ուրույն տեղ է զբաղեցնում մանկավարժական գործունեությունը: Տարիներ շարունակ նա վարում էր Մոսկվայի Պ. Ի. Չայկովսկու անվան կոնսերվատորիայի և Գնեսինների անվան երաժշտական ինստիտուտի կոմպոզիտորական դասարանները:
