Միացյալ Նահանգների հանրապետական օրենսդիր Սթիվ Սքալիսը երեկ հրազենային վիրավորում է ստացել Վաշինգտոնի արվարձաններից մեկում, երբ Կոնգրեսի մոտավորապես երկու տասնյակ ներկայացուցիչներ ու աշխատակիցներ բեյսբոլի մարզումներ էին անցկացնում հանրապետականների և դեմոկրատների միջև այսօր կայանալիք հանդիպմանն ընդառաջ:
Հարձակվողը, որը մահացել է ոստիկանության հրաձգության ընթացքում, 66-ամյա Ջեյմս Հոջկինսոնն է, ով մշտապես ակտիվ հետաքրքրվել է քաղաքականությամբ, սոցիալական ցանցերում բազմիցս սուր քննադատության ենթարկել Թրամփին ու հանրապետականներին, իսկ նախընտրական քարոզարշավի ժամանակ ակտիվորեն աջակցել դեմոկրատներին:
