Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանին զայրացրել է իր անվտանգության աշխատակիցներին ձերբակալելու մասին ԱՄՆ իշխանությունների կայացրած որոշումը: Ինչպես հաղորդում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, այս մասին հայտնում է թուրքական «Անադոլու» գործակալությունը:
«Իմ թիկնապահներից 12-ին կալանավորելու մասին որոշում են ընդունել: Սա ի՞նչ օրենք է, սա ի՞նչ իրավունք է: Եթե անվտանգության այդ աշխատակիցներն ինձ չպիտի պաշտպանեին, ապա էլ ինչո՞ւ էի ես նրանց ինձ հետ ԱՄՆ տանում: Ամերիկացի Հանսի ու Ջորջի միջոցո՞վ պետք է ինձ պաշտպանեմ»,- հայտարարել է Էրդողանը:
Նա մեղադրել է ամերիկյան ոստիկանությանը Թուրքիայի դեսպանատան դիմաց կազմակերպված ցույցի ժամանակ ոչ մի քայլ չձեռնարկելու մեջ: Նա անընդունելի է համարել նաև ԱՄՆ քաղաքացի երկու թուրքերի ձերբակալելու փաստը:
Ավելի վաղ Թուրքիայի ԱԳՆ է կանչվել այդ երկրում Միացյալ Նահանգների դեսպանը:
Վաշինգտոնի քաղաքապետ Մուրիել Բոուսերը և ոստիկանապետ Փիթեր Նյուշեմը հունիսի 15-ին կայացած համատեղ մամուլի ասուլիսի ժամանակ հայտարարել են, որ մայիսի 16-ին խաղաղ ցուցարարների վրա հարձակում իրականացրած՝ Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանի կողմնակից խմբի 18 անդամի ձերբակալության հրաման է տրվել:Նրանցից 12-ն Էրդողանի անվտանգության աշխատակիցներ են:
«Ինչպես ավելի վաղ հայտնել եմ արդեն, դատապարտում եմ այս հարձակումը: Դա հակասում է մեր արժեքներին, քանի որ հարձակում էր ամերիկացիների հիմնարար իրավունքների կատարման դեմ: Մենք կոչված ենք պաշտպանելու և պահպանելու այդ իրավունքները», - ասել է Վաշինգտոնի քաղաքապետը՝ ավելացնելով, որ ցանկանում են հստակեցնել իրենց դիրքորոշումը:
Ավելի վաղ հայտնի էր դարձել, որ ԱՄՆ-ում երկու անձ է ձերբակալվել, որոնք նույնպես մասնակցել են Վաշինգտնում Թուրքիայի դեսպանության առջև հայ, քուրդ և ամերիկացի ցուցարարների դեմ իրականավցած հարձակմանը: Նրանցից մեկը շինարարական ընկերության սեփականատեր Էյուփ Յըլդըրըմն է Նյու Ջերսիից, մյուսը` Վիրջինիա նահանգի բնակիչ Սինան Նարինը:
