ԱՄՆ-ի պետքարտուղար Ջոն Քերին այն կարծիքին է, որ «մեծ տերությունները» պետք է միավորվեն Սիրիայի իրադրության քաղաքական կարգավորման համար:
«Ժամանակն է, որ մեծ տերությունները, ազգերը միավորվեն եւ գտնեն այդ քաղաքական լուծման ուղին: Դա այն նպատակն է, որը մենք երեք տարի առաջ հայտարարել ենք Ժնեւի կոմունիկեում, եւ այն մեր նպատակն է մնում այսօր»,- հայտարարել է Քերին՝ ամփոփելով արտաքին գործերի եւ պաշտպանության նախարարների մակարդակով ամերիկա-ավստրալական կոնսուլտացիաների արդյունքները:
Նա հավելել է, որ քաղաքական կարգավորման անհրաժեշտությունը գիտակցում են կարգավորման գործընթացում ներգրավված բոլոր երկրները, այդ թվում եւ Ռուսաստանը:
«Կա միայն քաղաքական լուծում: Ռազմական բաղադրիչը կարող է միայն օգնել հասնելու դրան»,- ասել է ԱՄՆ-ի պետքարտուղարը:
Ընդսմին Քերին ընդգծել է, որ այլ պետությունների կողմից Սիրիային ցուցաբերվող օգնությունը պետք է հանգի բռնության դադարեցմանն օժանդակելուն եւ երկրում նոր կառավարության անցնելու համար պայմանների ստեղծմանը:
«Ի վերջո դա պետք է որոշի Սիրիայի ժողովուրդը»,- հավելել է պետքարտուղարը, հաղորդել է ՌԻԱ Նովոստին:
