Շանթ Հարությունյանի որդին՝ Շանթ Հարությունյանը ֆեյսբուքյան իր էջում գրել է.

«Հարգելի հայրենակիցներ, ընկերներ, բարեկամներ։

Հայաստանում կան քաղբանտարկյալներ։ Այդ մասին պետք է բարձրաձայնել ամեն օր և ամեն առիթով: Հայաստան Պորտուգալիա խաղը դիտում են տասնյակ միլիոնավոր մարդիկ, լուսաբանվում է համաշխարհային լրատվամիջոցներով: Սա լավ առիթ էր ամբողջ աշխարհի ուշադրությունը հրավիրելու Հայաստանում քաղբանտարկյալների առկայությանը: Մեր դրածո իշխանությունների հրամանով է, որ Շանթ Հարությունյանը և մյուս գաղափարական ընկերները դարձել են քաղբանտարկյալներ։ Այդ իսկ պատճառով վերջիններիս այդ խնդրով դիմելն անիմաստ է։ Օգտվելով այն հանգամանքից, որ Հայաստանում է խաղում աշխահի լավագույն ֆուտբոլիստը, գիտակցելով համաշխարհային մամուլի ուշադրությունը Հայաստան-Պորտուգալիա խաղի վրա, ընտեցի այս հանդիպումը՝ աշխարհին հերթական անգամ ցույց տալու, որ Հայաստանում կան քաղբանտարկյալներ։

Իմ քաղաքական ակցիան կարող եմ համարել ստացված։ Միջազգային ծանրակշիռ պարբերականներ անդրադարձել են այս քաղաքական ակցիային։ Իմ նպատակը դա էր։

Պաստառիս վրա գրված է եղել "Freedom for Shant Harutyunyan and all political prisoners in Armenia" ( Ազատություն Շանթ Հարությունյանին և Հայաստանի բոլոր քաղբանտարկյալներին):

Կարծիքներ եմ լսել, որ խաղադրույք եմ կատարել ինքս իմ վրա, որպեսզի գումար վաստակեմ դաշտ մտնելով։ Ծիծաղելի եմ համարում այդ վարկածը (ինձ անմիջապես չեզոքացնելու հավանականությունը ոստիկանների կողմից շատ մեծ էր):

Անիմաստ եմ համարում անդրադառնալ այն կարծիքներին, որտեղ նշվում է, որ ես որպես Ռոնալդուի երկրպագում եմ մտել դաշտ։ Նրա դեմ ոչինչ չունեմ, աշխարհի ամենալավ ֆուտբոլիստներից մեկն է. իմ ակցիան քաղաքական էր և նվիրված բոլոր քաղբանտարկյալներին։ (Ի միջի այլոց, ես Կատալոնական Բարսելոնայի երկրպագու եմ)

Շնորհակալություն եմ ցանկանում հայտնել բոլորին, ովքեր արձագանքեցին, տարածեցին նյութերը։ Շնորհակալ եմ նրանց, ովքեր գրում են ինձ, հետաքրքրվում միջադեպով, փորձում ճիշտ ներկայացնել հանրությանը։ Շնորհակալություն եմ հայտնում նրանց, ովքեր երեկ եկել էին ոստիկանություն ինձ աջակցելու։ Շնորհակալություն Հայաստանի ազգային հավաքականին գեղեցիկ և դիտարժան ֆուտբոլային 44 րոպե պարգևելու համար։ Մի խոսքով, շնորհակալություն բոլորին, ովքեր պայքարում և աջակցում են Հայաստանի բոլոր քաղբանտարկյալների ազատության համար։

Հիշեցնեմ, որ հայրս ՝ քաղբանտարկյալ Շանթ Հարությունյանը և իր գաղափարական ընկեր քաղբանտարկյալ Վարդան Վարդանյանը արդեն մի քանի օր է՝ հացադուլի մեջ են։

ԱԶԱՏՈՒԹՅՈՒՆ ԱՇԽԱՐՀԻ ԲՈԼՈՐ ՔԱՂԲԱՆՏԱՐԿՅԱԼՆԵՐԻՆ։

Հ․Գ․ Մանկուց երազել եմ ֆուտբոլիստ դառնալ։ Ինչ-ինչ պատճառներով չստացվեց։ Բայց ուրախ եմ, որ հենց ֆուտբոլի միջոցով կարողացա իրականացնել այս քաղաքական ակցիան։ 

Չեմ ժխտում նաև իմ մեծ ոգևորությունը, որ համաշխարհային հայ և պորտուգալացի ֆուտբոլային աստղերի հետ գտնվել եմ նույն խոտածածկի վրա։ Ափսոս' գոլ չխփեցի պորտուգալացիներին»։
