Ինքնաբավությունը սովորաբար «անկախության» հոմանիշն է ընկալվում։ Մինչդեռ դրանք նույն բաները չեն։ Ցանկացած հոգեպես հասուն մարդ պետք է ինքնաբավ լինի։ Դա չի նշանակում, որ նրան պետք չէ սոցիումը, դա նշանակում է լիարժեք, կայացած անձնավորություն։ Մարդ, որը գիտակցել է իր եթե ոչ բոլոր բարդույթները, ապա դրանց մեծ մասը։ Մարդ, որը ճանաչում է ինքն իրեն, ու կարող է հեշտ ու ազատ խաղալ՝ դիմակները փոխելով, կամ էլ ապրել առանց որեւէ դիմակի։
