Կալցիումն օրգանիզմին անհրաժեշտ է արյան, նյարդերի և ոսկորների ճիշտ աշխատանքի համար: Կալցիումի դեֆիցիտը կարող է շատ խնդիրներ առաջացնել:

Կալցիումի պակասի դեպքում մարդու օրգանիզմը կարող է թուլացնել ոսկորները, կարող են տարբեր հիվանդություններ առաջանալ:

Բավականաչափ կալցիում օգտագործեք: 9-18 տարեկան մարդիկ օրական 1300 մգ կալցիումի կարիք ունեն, 19-50 տարեկան մարդիկ՝ 1000 մգ:

Հղիներին կամ կերակրող մայրերին կարող է ավելի շատ պահանջվել՝ մոտ 1200 մգ: 50 տարեկանից հետո կանանց անհրաժեշտ է առնվազն 1200 մգ օրական, տղամարդկանց՝ 1000 մգ:

Կալցիում կարելի է որպես հավելում ընդունել կամ սննդակարգի միջոցով: Կարևոր է նաև բավականաչափ վիտամին D ստանալ, քանի որ այն օրգանիզմին օգնում է կլանել կալցիումը:
