   A company has come up with a bizarre way to make fruit and vegetables more appealing by shaping them with special moulds. Pictured is a Buddha-shaped pear made by the firm China-based Fruit Mould Co makes ingenious moulds to grow fruit into strange shapes
Based in Suzhou, Jiangsu, Fruit Mould Co. are the firm behind the crazy contraptions and have been commissioned worldwide to help people make odd-shaped produce. Pictured are heart-shaped watermelons
  Customers can create ghoulish pumpkin skulls for Halloween One of the moulds offered by the company is skull-shaped
Star-shaped cucumbers are another option, as well as heart-shaped aubergines for that special someone 
  The moulds work by farmers placing them over the stems of growing produce and then allowing the fruit and veg to slowly fill them as they develop Pictured is a watermelon cube made using a box-like mould
The company claims 'any kind of fruit can be shaped by the moulds'. Pictured is a pair of apples shaped into cubes
  Some moulds are even designed so there can be words put on the items Heart shaped apples have been produced with the word 'love' across them
The company produces the shapes in Suzhou, Jiangsu, eastern China, by placing moulds over the stems of budding fruits and vegetables (pictured)
The company says that each different type of fruit requires different equipment and processes to shape
The company says on its website that strangely shaping food can 'add more value' to items as well as drawing more attention to them
Custom shape designs for produce can be submitted through the firm's website
Its website says: 'Fruit Mould Co., Ltd specialises in creating one of a kind, high quality fruit and vegetable moulds to transform regular fruits into wacky and weird shapes that you've never seen before
The idea for the strange operation originated in Japan and production was then moved to China
These cucumbers have been shaped into stars using specialised moulds made by the firm
