Մի խումբ ավստրալացիներ դատապարտել են SBS-ին՝ Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը ժխտելու համար

43 ավստրալացիներից բաղկացած խումբը, որոնցից 18-ը՝ հրեական արմատներով, դիմում են ստորագրել, որտեղ կոչ են արել Ավստրալիայի ռադիոհեռարձակման SBS կորպորացիային հրաժարվել մեկնաբանություններից, որոնք կասկածի տակ են առնում Հայոց ցեղասպանության փաստը, հաղորդում է Australian Jewish News-ը։
Հոլոքոսթի եւ Ցեղասպանության ուսումնասիրության ավստրալական ինստիտուտի տնօրեն Մհեր Գրիգորյանը ցավով նշել է, որ պարբերականները չցանկանալով են 1915 թվականի իրադարձությունները որպես Ցեղասպանություն բնութագրում։
SBS-ի քաղաքականությունն է՝ վերաբերվել Հայոց ցեղասպանությանը, ինչպես «հայոց զանգվածային սպանության, որը շատերը ցեղասպանություն են համարում, եւ որը հերքում է Թուրքիան»։
Գրիգորյանի պնդմամբ՝ ժխտման քաղաքականությունը մշակվել է թուրքական Australian Turkish Advocacy Alliance (ATAA) լոբիստական կազմակերպության ճնշման պատճառով։ Սակայն Սենատում լսումների ժամանակ SBS-ի ղեկավար Մայքլ Էբեյդը հերքել է ATAA-ի եւ SBS-ի քաղաքականության միջեւ ցանկացած կապ։
Գրիգորյանը նշել է նաեւ, որ SBS-ը նման քաղաքականություն չի վարում Հոլոքոսթի կամ այլ ցեղասպանությունների վերաբերյալ։ Նա հավելել է, որ 43 ստորագրածներից միայն մեկը հայկական արմատներ ունի, «մյուսները Հոլոքոսթի, ցեղասպանության եւ մարդու իրավունքների ոլորտում փորձագետներ են»։
