Հրեա թագավորի այս արձանը կերտվել է կորարյան մարմարի ամբողջական կտորից։ Եվ չնայած նրան, որ Միքելանջելոն հայտնի է իր կենսաբանական ճշգրտությամբ, Դավթի արձանը փոքրիկ թերություն ունի. ողնաշարի և աջ թիակի միջև ընկած տարածքում բացակայում է մեկ կարևոր մկան։ Քանդակագործին չի հաջողվել ընդգծել այդ մկանը այդ հատվածում քարի դեֆեկտի պատճառով։

«9-րդ ալիքը»

Կտավում պատկերված են ալիքներ, որոնց վերևի հատվածը գոգնոցի ձև ունի։ Այս ալիքները նկարիչը տեսել է ափի մոտ և ենթադրել է, որ նմանատիպ ալիքներ կան ողջ ծովում։ Սակայն, իրականում, ափից հեռու գտնվող ալիքները կոնաձև են և նման չեն այն ալիքներին, որոնք պատկերել է Այվազովսկին։

Բիբլիական «Ելք» գրքի սխալ թարգմանության պատճառով Միքելանջելոն Մովսես մարգարեին պատկերել է կոտոշներով։ Բանն այն է, որ եբրայերեն «կարնայիմ» բառը կարելի է թարգմանել որպես «ճառագայթներ» կամ «կոտոշներ»։ Այդպես, «Նրա դեմքը շողում էր» արտահայտությունը թարգմանվել է «Նրա դեմքը կոտոշավոր էր»։

Այս կտավը լի է հանելուկներով, որոնց ուսումնասիրությունը դեռևս չի դադարել։ Առավել շատ բանավեճեր առաջանում են կապիտան Ֆրանս Բանինգ Կոկի ձեռնոցների վերաբերյալ։ Աջ ձեռքում, որն արդեն կրում է ձեռնոց, Կոկը պահում է ևս մեկ աջ ձեռքի համար նախատեսված ձեռնոց։ Շատ մասնագետներ համոզված են, որ այդ կերպ Ռեմբրանդը երգիծանք է ավելացրել կտավին։ Որոշ մասնագետներ էլ վստահ են, որ ձեռնոցը, այնուամենայնիվ, ձախ ձեռքի համար է, իսկ տեսողական խաբկանքն առաջանում է այն պատճառով, որ կապիտանն այն բռնել է մատնեմատից, իսկ բութ մատը թեքված է դեպի դիտողի կողմը։
