Ինչեր ասես որ չէին անում մեր նախնիները նիհարելու համար, քանի որ ավելորդ քաշի խնդիրը կանանց հուզել է նույնիսկ նիհար սուպերմոդելների պաշտամունքի հայտնվելուց առաջ:
"Պայթուցիկ" դիետա
20-րդ դարի 30-ական թվականներին ամերիկյան բժիշկները նկատեցին, որ պայթուցիկ նյութերի պահեստներում աշխատող մարդիկ արագ քաշ են կորցնում: Հտազոտությունները ցույց տվեցին, որ դա տեղի է ունենում դինիտրոֆենոլ նյութի պատճառով, որը ակտիվացնում է նյութափոխանակությունը:
Այդ բացահայտումից հետո դեղագործական ընկերությունները անհապաղ սկսեցին դինիտրոֆենոլով հաբեր արտադրել նիհարելու համար, որոնք գովազդի շնորհիվ լայն մասսայականություն ձեռք բերեցին:
Սակայն պարզվեց, որ հրաշք միջոցի երկարատև օգտագործումը հանգեցնում է աչքերի ծանր հիվանդությունների: Կուրության և նույնիսկ մահվան դեպքերից հետո, այդ հաբերի արտադրությունն արգելվեց:
Նիկոտինային դիետա
Ծխախոտ արտադրող հայտնի Lucky Strike ընկերությունը 20-րդ դարի առաջին կեսին հնարեց նոր գովազդային արշավ՝ "Կոնֆետի փոխարեն սիգարետ վերցրու" անունով: Այդ ժամանակներում մարդիկ շատ էին հավատում գովազդներին: Երիտասարդ կանայք վստահ էին, որ ծխելը փակում է ախորժակը: Ծխելու վնասակար հետևանքները դեռևս քիչ էին ուսումնասիրված, այդ պատճառով էլ այդպիսի դիետայի թողած վնասները ոչ ոքի չէր հուզում: Արդյունքում ուտելիքը սիգարետներով փոխարինելու փորձերը խաթարեցին բազմաթիվ աղջիկների առողջությունը:
"Մակաբույծներով" դիետա
Սա արդեն վախեցնող դիետա է և շատ տարօրինակ է, որ ինչ-որ մեկի մտքով այդպիսի բան է անցել: Հայտնի է, որ նիհարելու համար մակաբույծներ օգտագործելու միտքն առաջին անգամ ծագել է 20-րդ դարի կեսերին: Այս մեթոդի հետևորդներից մեկը հայտնի երգչուհի Մարիա Կալլասն էր, ով տառապում էր ավելորդ քաշից:
Նիհարելու միջոցն իրենից ներկայացնում էր երկու պատիճ, որոնցից մեկում մակաբույծի ձուն էր, իսկ մյուսում՝ հակագելմինտային պրեպարատ: Սկզբում կանայք մակաբույծի օգնությամբ նիհարում էին, այնուհետև սպանում նրան, սակայն, միևնույնն է, չէին ազատվում օրգանիզմը թունավորող տոքսիկ նյութերից և մակաբույծի կենսագործունեության արգասիքներից:
