ՀՀ ԱԺ նախագահ Գալուստ Սահակյանը Ժնևում՝ Միջխորհրդարանական միության 133-րդ վեհաժողովի շրջանակում, հանդիպել է Կանադայի Սենատի խոսնակ Լեո Հուսակոսի հետ: Ինչպես տեղեկացրին ՀՀ ԱԺ հասարակայնության և տեղեկատվության միջոցների հետ կապերի վարչությունից, հանդիպման ընթացքում քննարկվել են միջխորհրդարանական համագործակցության զարգացմÕ �նն առնչվող հարցեր:
Գալուստ Սահակյանը շնորհակալություն է հայտնել Կանադայի Սենատի խոսնակին հանդիպման համար և փաստել, որ Հայաստանը մեծ նշանակություն է տալիս Կանադայի հետ բարեկամական հարաբերությունների զարգացմանը և խորացմանը երկկողմ և բազմակողմ ձևաչափերով: ՀՀ խորհրդարանի ղեկավարը բարձր է գնահատել Լեո Հուսակոսի՝ երկու երկրների խորհրդարանների միջև հարաբերություններն ամրապնդելու և փոխգործակցությունը խթանելու պատրաստակամությունը:
ՀՀ ԱԺ նախագահը մասնավորապես նշել է. «Մեր խորհրդարանների համագործակցությունը միջազգային կազմակերպությունների շրջանակում կրում է մշտական և կառուցողական բնույթ: Մենք երախտապարտ ենք կանադական կողմին Ֆրանկոֆոնիայի միջազգային կազմակերպությունում Հայաստանի կարգավիճակի բարձրացմանը հետևողականորեն աջակցելու համար»:
Խոսելով հայ-կանադական բարեկամական հարաբերությունների մասին՝ Գալուստ Սահակյանը համոզմունք է հայտնել, որ Կանադայի անկեղծ վերաբերմունքը հայ ժողովրդի նկատմամբ դրսևորվել է նաև 2002 թվականին, երբ Կանադայի Սենատի կողմից ընդունվել է Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը ճանաչող բանաձև, որը վերահաստատվել է այս տարվա մայիսին: ԱԺ նախագահը նշել է, որ այս ամենը ևս մեկ անգամ ապացուցում է Կանադայի դիրքորոշումը, ըստ որի՝ մարդկության դեմ իրագործված նման ոճիրները պետք է դատապարտվեն և կանխարգելվեն:
«Մենք բարձր ենք գնահատում նաև Կանադայի հավասարակշռված և չեզոք դիրքորոշումը Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի հիմնախնդրի վերաբերյալ»,-եզրափակել է իր խոսքը Գալուստ Սահակյանը:
Կանադայի Սենատի խոսնակ Լեո Հուսակոսը, շնորհակալություն հայտնելով հանդիպման համար, նշել է, որ երկու երկրները սերտորեն համագործակցում են:
«Կանադան օրհնված է, որ իր հասարակության մասն են կազմում նաև հայերը: Մենք հպարտանում ենք նրանցով»,-նշել է Սենատի խոսնակը:
Լեո Հուսակոսը վստահեցրել է, որ հայ-կանադական համագործակցությունը կշարունակվի և ավելի կամրապնդվի: Կանադայի Սենատի ղեկավարի խնդրանքով ՀՀ ԱԺ նախագահն անդրադարձել է Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի հիմնախնդրի շուրջ վերջին զարգացումներին և սպառիչ պատասխաններ տվել ադրբեջանական ագրեսիայի և հայկական հակազդեցության վերաբերյալ:
Կողմերը խոսել են նաև Հայաստանի Հանրապետությունում սպասվող սահմանադրական բարեփոխումների մասին:
Հանդիպման ավարտին Սենատի խոսնակն ընդունել է Գալուստ Սահակյանի հրավերը և հայտնել, որ հաջորդ տարի պաշտոնական այց կկատարի Հայաստան:
