Թիմ Յանգը և Փոլ Հալլինգսը Նյու Ջերսիից հրշեջներ էին: Մի օր 12 ժամ շարունակ կրակ հանգցնելուց հետո, նրանք մտան մի սրճարան, որպեսզի խմեն ամենաթունդ սուրճը, որը կարող էին իրենց առաջարկել:
Մատուցողուհին Լիզ Վուդվորդն էր, ով պատահաբար լսել էր նրանց խոսակցությունը, թե ինչպես էին հենց նոր հրդեհը մարել: Երբ Թիմն ու Փոլը մոտեցան հաշիվը փակելու՝ նրանք հաճելիորեն զարմացան: Հաշվի փոխարեն կտրոնի վրա հետևյալն էր գրված.
«Շնորհակալություն: Ձեր նախաճաշն այսօր իմ հաշվին է, շնորհակալություն այն ամենի համար, ինչ դուք անում եք. Ուրիշներին ծառայելու համար, որ վազում եք այնտեղ, որտեղից բոլորը փախչում են: Կարևոր չէ, թե ինչն է ձեզ առաջնորդում, դուք անվախ եք, քաջ և ուժեղ… Շնորհակալություն, ձեր վճռականության և համարձակության համար: Դուք օրինակ եք հանդիսանում շատերի համար: Հանգստացեք, Լիզ»:
Մատուցողուհու արարքից շատ շոյված և հուզված՝ Թիմը Facebook-ում գրեց.
«Ինչպիսի անշահախնդիր և բարի արարք: Ես կոչ եմ անում իմ ընկերներին աջակցել այս սրճարանին: Եթե ձեր մատուցողուհին Լիզը լինի, նրան շատ թեյավճար կթողնեք»:
Բայց պատմությունն այսքանով չի ավարտվում: Հրշեջներն իմացան, որ Լիզի հայրիկն արդեն հինգ տարի է ինչ հաշմանդամ է: Ձմռանը Լիզը նրա համար բարեգործական էջ է բացել, որտեղ խնդրում է գումար նվիրաբերել սահմանափակ կարողություններով մարդկանց համար հատուկ սայլակներ գնելու համար: Թիմը կոչ արեց բոլորին գումար հավաքել Լիզի հիմնադրամի համար. «Ինձ անվճար կերակրած աղջիկը կարծես իսկապես օգնության կարիք ունի…»,- ասում է Թիմը:
Անհավանական բան տեղի ունեցավ. Մի քանի օրվա ընթացքում նրանք հավաքեցին ավելի քան 70.000 $, շատ ավելին, քան 17.000 $-ը, որն անհրաժեշտ էր այդ սայլակների համար: Լիզն ու իր ընտանիքը չգիտեին, թե ինչպես շնորհակալություն հայտնեն այդ հրշեջներին. «Ես ուղղակի վճարեցի նրանց նախաճաշի համար, և ժպիտից բացի, ուրիշ ոչինչ չէի սպասում: Պետք է ուղղակի բարի լինել միմյանց հանդեպ: Այդ դեպքում, նույնիսկ ամենափոքրիկ արարքն էլ ունակ է փոխել կյանքը»:
