Ըստ բուդդայականութան՝ աշխարհում 3 գլխավոր չարիք կա, որոնցից պետք է խուսափել: Դրանք ներկայացնում ենք ստորև․

1. Ագահություն
«Մարդուն ստրուկ են դարձնում ո՛չ կյանքը, ո՛չ հարստությունը և ո՛չ իշխանութունը, այլ միայն նրա կապվածությունը կյանքին, հարստությանը և իշխանությանը»: (Բուդդա)

Ագահությունը տարբեր կերպ է արտահայտվում՝ կարոտ, ծարավ, ձգտում, տենչանք, ցանկություն, մոտիվացիա: Բայց առավել հաճախ դրսևորվում է որպես բաց թողնելու անկարողություն:

Ագահության գլխավոր պատճառն այն է, որ մարդն իր բարձրագույն հաճույքը և վայելքը տեսնում է իրերի մեջ, դա ստիպում է դրանցից կառչել ամբողջ ուժով: Ինչ-որ բանի հասնելու համար հրաժարվեք դրանից:

Ագահությունը հաղթահարել օգնում են ինքնակարգապահությունը և ունեցածով բավարարվելը:

2. Ատելություն
«Ատելությունն ատելությամբ չես հաղթահարի: Ատելությունը միայն սիրով է հաղթվում: Սա հավերժական օրենք է»: (Բուդդա)

Ատելությունն անձը քայքայում է հոգեպես և ֆիզիկապես: Այն վարակիչ է, շուրջը բոլորին վարակում է:

Ատելության դեմ միակ պայքարը սիրտը սիրով, ներումով և ընդունումով լցնելն է:

3. Անկրթություն
«Նույնիսկ խելամիտ մարդը հիմարություն կանի, եթե չկատարելագործվի»: (Բուդդա)

Անկրթությունը տանում է անդունդ, որտեղ շուրջբոլորը խավար է:

Միայն մարդկանց և իրերի իրական էության ըմբռնումը կարող է լույս դառնալ թունելի վերջում, որը կհանի անգիտության խավարից:
