«168 ժամ» թերթը գրում է. «Ես չեմ կարծում, որ Բաքու-Մոսկվա մերձեցումը կարող է դրամատիկ ազդեցություն ունենալ ԼՂ հակամարտության խաղաղ կարգավորման գործընթացի վրա բացառությամբ մեկ զարգացման. եթե Բաքուն ցանկանա դառնալ Մոսկվայի արբանյակը, ապա ես արդեն դժվարանում եմ պատկերացնել, բայց Մոսկվան կցանկանա մատուցել Երեւանին եւ ափսեի վրա հանձնել օկուպացված տարածքներն Ադրբեջանին»,- «168 ժամի» թղթակցի հետ զրույցում ասել է ԱՄՆ Պետդեպի նախկին հատուկ խորհրդական, ԽՍՀՄ հարցերում մասնագիտացած ամերիկացի հեղինակավոր վերլուծաբան, ներկայումս` Վաշինգտոնի Համաշխարհային քաղաքականության ինստիտուտի պրոֆեսոր, սյունակագիր Փոլ Գոբլը` անդրադառնալով ԼՂ հակամարտության գոտում հնարավոր զարգացումներին եւ կարգավորման հեռանկարներին։

Նա համոզմունք է հայտնել, որ Հայաստանն ու Ադրբեջանը կարող են հասնել կարգավորման, եթե արտաքին ուժերը, ինչպես Մոսկվան է, անհանգստություն չպատճառեն։ Կարգավորման, ըստ նրա, կարելի է հասնել նաեւ այն պարագայում, երբ Հայաստանը դուրս գա ՌԴ ազդեցությունից։

«Վստահ եմ, որ Արեւմուտքն անվտանգության երաշխիքներ կտրամադրեր Հայաստանին, եթե Երեւանը ցանկանար Ադրբեջանին վերադարձնել օկուպացված տարածքները եւ դադարեր Կովկասում Մոսկվայի գործակալը լինելու դերը խաղալուց։ Ես նույնիսկ մտածում եմ, որ Հայաստանը կարող է քայլեր նախաձեռնել այս ուղղությամբ` դրանով իսկ ստանալով որոշակի երաշխիքներ։ Բայց պարզ չէ, թե Երեւանում եւ Արեւմուտքում կա՞ն արդյոք մարդիկ, ովքեր պատրաստ են եւ կարող են նման գործարք իրականացնել։ Խիստ կասկածում եմ այս հարցում»,- ասել է Փոլ Գոբլը»:
