Օգոստոսի 13-ին նշվում է Ձախլիկների միջազգային օր (International Left‑Handers Day): Օրը որոշվել է ըստ «Ձախլիկների օրինագծի», որը ընդունվել է 1976 թվականին, ԱՄՆ-ի Տոպիկա քաղաքում գտնվող Ձախլիկների միջազգային կոնֆեդերացիայի կողմից:
Ըստ Calend-ի՝ ձախլիկների զանգվածային շարժումը սկսվել է 1980 թվականին ԱՄՆ-ում` աշխատանքից հեռացված ձախլիկ ոստիկան Ֆրանկլին Ուինբորնին նվիրված բողոքի ակցիայի ժամանակ, որը ատրճանակի պատյանը կրում էր ձախից, մինչդեռ, ոստիկանության Կանոնադրության համաձայն, պետք է կրել աջից:
Ձախլիկների օրը նպատակ ունի հանրության ուշադրությունը հրավիրել ձախլիկներին ստիպողաբար աջով գրելուն ուղղված խնդրին, ինչը կարող է հոգեբանական խնդիրների պատճառ դառնալ, ինչպես նաեւ ձախլիկների հարմարավետությունը հաշվի առնող կենցաղային իրերի արտադրությանը: Ազգաբնակչության մեջ հանդիպում են 7-17 տոկոս ձախլիկներ:
Հայտնի ձախլիկ քաղաքական եւ ռազմական գործիքներից են՝ Կեսարն ու Նապոլեոնը, Ալեքսանդր Մակեդոնացին, Կառլոս Մեծը, Չերչիլը, Բիսմարկը, Ֆիդել Կաստրոն:
ԱՄՆ նախագահներից ձախլիկ են եղել Ջերալդ Ֆորդը, Բիլ Քլինթոնը, Ջորջ Բուշ կրտսերը եւ Բարաք Օբաման: Ձախլիկ են նաեւ արվեստագետներ Լեոնարդո դա Վինչին, Միքելանջելոն, Օգյուստ Ռոդենը, Պաբլո Պիկասոն, Պիտեր Պաուլ Ռուբենսը, Ալբրեխտ Դյուրերը, գրողներ Հանս Քրիստիան Անդերսենը, Ֆրանց Կաֆկան, Նիցշեն, Լյուիս Քերոլը, երաժիշտներ Նիկոլո Պագանինին, Մոցարտը, Ռախմանինովը, դերասաններ Չարլի Չապլինը, գիտնականներ Ալբերտ Էյնշտեյնը, Նյուտոնը եւ այլք:
