Բազմաթիվ գիտափորձերի արդյունքում գիտնականները պնդում են, որ գտել են այն գենը, որը պատասխանատու է պսորիազի առաջացման և զարգացման համար:
Անցկացրած գիտափորձերի արդյունքում պարզվել է, որ պսորիազի առաջացմանը հանգեցնում են CARD14 գենի մեջ հազվադեպ հանդիպող մուտացիաները: Նախկինում գիտնականները կարծում էին, որ պսորիազն առաջանում է իմունային համակարգի բարձրացած ակտիվության պատճառով:
Ինչպես նշել են գիտնականները, պսորիազի զարգացման համար պատասխանատու գենը հայտնաբերելու նպատակով գրեթե երկու տասնամյակ անցկացվել են հետազոտություններ և հնարավոր է, որ այդ բացահայտումը սկիզբ կհանդիսանա այս հիվանդության բուժման նոր մեթոդների փնտրման համար:
Հետազոտության իրականացման համար գիտնականներն օգտագործել են ԴՆԹ առաջատար տեխնոլոգիաները, որպեսզի պարզեն գեների մուտացիայի ընթացքը և պսորիազի առաջացման պատճառը: Մասնագետները հետազոտել են այս ախտորոշմամբ մի քանի ընտանիքների անդամների ԴՆԹ-ն: Մուտացված գենը հայտնաբերվել է յուրաքանչյուր հիվանդացածի մոտ և փոխանցվել ժառանգաբար: Այդ ընթացքում հետազոտվել է 3 տարեկան մի աղջնակ` պսորիազի հազվադեպ հանդիպող ձևով, սակայն նրա հարազատներից ոչ մեկի մոտ նման հիվանդություն չի եղել: Գենետիկական փոփոխությունը չպարզված պատճառով ինքնաբերաբար է սկսվել:
Գիտնականներն այժմ պլանավորում են անցկացնել հետազոտություններ, որոնց նպատակն է որոշել, թե գենետիկական մուտացիաները կապ ունեն պսորիազի այլ տեսակների զարգացման հետ, երբ մաշկային հիվանդությունն ուղեկցվում է հոդերի բորբոքմամբ:
