Պետք է փոխել ոչ թե լեզուն, այլ լեզվամտածողությունը

Հրանտ Բագրատյանի առաջարկը՝ անվանափոխել Հայաստանը Armenia-ի, բավական սուր քննարկումների տեղքի տվեց: Բագրատյանը նշում է, որ մեզ այդպես են անվանում աշխարհում և մենք էլ պիտի մեզ այդպես անվանենք: Մտահղացումը, թերևս, նպատակ ունի ինտեգրել Հայաստանը աշխարհին, դարձնել ավելի ճանաչելի:
Աշխարհում շատ երկրներ կան, որոնք իրենց անվանում են այլ կերպ, իսկ ուրիշներն ՝ այլ կերպ: Այստեղ լեզվի պահպանման և տնտեսության զարգացման, աշխարհին ինտեգրման խնդիր չկա: Եվ այս իմաստով Բագրատյանի հարուցած բանավեճն ունի երկու կողմ ՝ բուն առաջարկի բովանդակությունը և դրա արձագանքները: Բուն առաջարկը կարելի է քննարկել, բայց էապես դա բան չի փոխի: Իրականում Հայաստանի զարգացման խնդիրները կապված չեն լեզվի պահպանման կամ փոփոխության հետ: Կարելի է պահել հայերենն ու հայկական անվանումը, բայց միաժամանակ զարկ տալ օտար լեզուների դասավանդմանը ու լինել մրցունակ:
Բանավեճի երկրորդ կողմում քննադատներն են, որոնք պնդում են, որ հայերենին պետք չէ կպնել: Նրանց թիրախում ոչ այնքան Բագրատյանի առաջարկն է, այլ սեփական լեզվով ու բազմադարյա ազգ լինելով ինքնամոռաց հիացումը, ինքնապատակ պնդումն առ այն, որ լեզուն անձեռնամխելի է և որևէ բան պետք չէ փոխել, որևէ բանի պետք չէ ձեռք տալ:
Հայաստանը հիմա կարիք ունի ոչ թե լեզվի ու ինքնանվան փոփոխության, այլ լեզվամտածողության վերանայման: Դատարկ տեղը պետք չէ հպարտանալ լեզվով և ոչ էլ պետք է ընկնել մյուս ծայրահեղության գիրկն ու փորձել արմատապես փոխել ամեն ինչ: Լեզվամտածողության փոփոխությունը մեզ պիտի հնարավորություն տա վերանայել մեր լեզվի հնարավորությունները, հասկանալ դրա պոտենցիալը ՝ մեր համար, միաժամանակ ինտեգրելով այն օտար լեզուներին: Հայաստանը վերջապես պիտի իր անցնելիք ուրույն ճանապարհը նախանշի, ոչ թե զբաղվի պլագիատով Սինգապուրից կամ այլ օրինակներից:
