Եվրոպայի խորհրդի գլխավոր քարտուղար Տորնբյոր Յագլանդը հայտարարությամբ է հանդես եկել՝ կապված ադրբեջանական Turan գործակալության տնօրեն Մեհման Ալիեւի ձերբակալության հետ, հաղորդում է contact.az-ը։
«Ինձ հայտնել են, որ հայտնի լրագրող, Turan գործակալության տնօրենը երեկ ձերբակալվել է՝ հարկերից խուսափելու կասկածանքով։ Նրա ձերբակալությանը նախորդել է Turan գործակալությունում խուզարկությունը։ Եվրոպայի խորհուրդը պատիժը մեղմելու ուղղությամբ սերտորեն աշխատում է Ադրբեջանի իշխանությունների հետ՝ անիմաստ ձերբակալություններից խուսափելու համար, հատկապես, երբ ձերբակալվածը պետության անվտանգությանը կամ քաղաքացիներին սպառնալիք չի ներկայացնում։ Այդ նախաձեռնությունը նախագահական որոշման մասն էր, որն Ադրբեջանի իշխանությունները Եվրոպայի խորհրդին են ներկայացրել։ Ես Ադրբեջանի իշխանություններին կոչ եմ անում հարգել Եվրոպայի խորհրդի հետ համագործակցության ոգին եւ կատարել ժողովրդավարական հասարակության իր պարտավորվածությունները։ Մամուլն ու լրագրողները պետք է իրենց պարտականություններն ազատորեն կատարելու հնարավորություն ունենան՝ առանց հետապնդման եւ անհիմն միջամտության սպառնալիքի»,-ընդգծել է Յագլանդը։
