Լեռնային անձրևները, որոնք առատ էին ձմռանը, հանգեցրին նրան, որ օգոստոս ամսին անապատը պատվեց սպիտակ ծաղիկներով: Տեղի իշխանությունները, կատարված երևույթից ելնելով, ակնկալում են զբոսաշրջիկների մեծ աճ այս տարի:

Ինչպես հայտնում է Ատակամայի զբոսաշրջության ազգային ծառայության ղեկավար Դանիել Դիասը՝ անապատն առաջ ևս ծաղկել է հեղեղից հետո, սակայն այս տարվա ծաղկման ինտենսիվությունը նմանը չի ունեցել: Երևույթի պատճառը նա համարել է կլիմայական փոփոխությունները:
