Դաշինքը չի ձգտում սառը պատերազմի կրկնվելուն եւ սպառազինությունների նոր մրցավազք չի ցանկանում։ Այս մասին հայտարարել է ՆԱՏՕ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղար Յենս Ստոլտենբերգը, փոխանցում է «ՏԱՍՍ»-ը։
Պատասխանելով ՆԱՏՕ-ի արեւելյան թեւի հետագա ամրապնդման մասին հարցին՝ Ստոլտենբերգը նշել է, որ Լեհաստանում եւ Բալթիայի երկրներում բազմազգ գումարտակների տեղակայումը Ռուսաստանի գործողություններին «համաչափ պատասխան է»։ «Մենք պատերազմ եւ սպառազինությունների մրցավազք չենք ցանկանում»,- ընդգծել է նա։
Գլխավոր քարտուղարն ասել է, որ «ադապտացման ու արդիականացման գործընթացը դեռ ավարտված չէ»։ «Դրանում նոր ենթակառուցվածք կներառվի, ինչպես նաեւ հրամանատարության կառույցում փոփոխություններ»,- հավելել է Ստոլտենբերգը։
Նրա խոսքով՝ դաշինքում «սառը պատերազմի ավարտից ի վեր հավաքական պաշտպանության ամրապնդման» գործընթաց է տեղի ունենում։ «Մենք երեք անգամ մեծացրել ենք մեր ուժերի պատրաստականությունը, մեծացրել ՆԱՏՕ-ի ուժերի թվաքանակը, արեւելյան երկրներում 8 նոր հրամանատարություն, արագ արձագանքման ուժեր ստեղծել, Լեհաստան եւ Բալթիայի երեք երկրներ մարտական խմբեր ուղարկել, ինպես նաեւ ամրապնդել ենք մեր ներկայությունը Ռումինիայում եւ դաշինքի հարավ-արեւելքում»,- ամփոփել է նա։
