Մեքսիկացի Խուան Պեդրո ֆրանկոն երեք ամսեկանում պահել է դիետա և կորցրել 385 ֆունտ: Նրա վիրաբույժ Խոսե Կաստիենդան ասել է, որ վիրահատության ընթացակարգը սահուն է անցել, և պատրաստվում է մեկ այլ վիրահատության` փոխելու իր ստամոքսի և աղիքների չափը:
«Վիրահատությունն անցել է բավականին հաջող» ,- ասել է Կաստիենդան «ԻԲ Թայմին», - «բայց հիմա մենք պետք է սպասենք, և տեսնենք թե ինչպես է նա արձագանքում փոփոխությանը» :
Վիրահատությանը պատրաստվելու համար նա ենթարկվել է հնգօրյա հետազոտությունների՝ արյան, տեսողական, թոքային և սրտի:
