ԵԼՔ-ը ՀՀ մասով ԵՏՄ պայմանագրի գործողությունը դադարեցնելու գործընթաց սկսելու մասին նախագիծ է ներկայացրել ԱԺ: Հիմնավորումները տարբեր են ՝ տնտեսականից մինչև ղարաբաղյան խնդիր: Անվերջ կարելի է քննարկել ԵՏՄ-Հայաստան հարաբերությունների խնդիրը, թերությունները, վնասներն ու օգուտները Հայաստանի համար: Բայց այս դեպքում առավել հետաքրքական է ԵԼՔ-ի դիրքորոշումն այս հարցում և նրանց նախաձեռնության ոչ թե բովանդակային, այլ քաղաքական կոնտեքստը: 

Նշենք, որ ԵԼՔ-ը ԵՏՄ-ից դուրս գալու գործընթացի թեմային տարբեր կերպ անդրադառնում էր ամիսներ առաջ, սակայն դաշինքում այդպես էլ չէր ստացվում կոնսենսուս գտնել: Ժամանակ շահելու համար ԵԼՔ-ի Երևանի ավագանու խմբակցությունը նախաձեռնեց Երևանի փողոցների անվանափոխման գործընթաց ՝ փորձելով հակառուսականության չափաբաժինը մատուցել այլ, այսպես ասած սիմվոլիկ տեսքով: ԵԼՔ-ի պոտենցիալ էլեկտորատը, սակայն, նրանց սկսեց քննադատել, որ կարևոր գործերը թողած զբաղված են անկարևոր բաներով: Իսկ Երևանի ավագանին մերժեց ԵԼՔ-ի նախաձեռնությունը:

Աշնանային եթերաշրջան մտնելու և քաղաքականության մեջ իրենց մասին հիշեցնելու համար ԵԼՔ-ը որոշեց ամեն դեպքում սկսել ԵՏՄ-ից Հայաստանի դուրս գալու նախաձեռնություն: Նորաստեղծ դաշինքում բնականաբար գիտեն, որ իրենց խմբակցության ձայները բավարար չեն նախաձեռնությունը հաստատելու համար: Գիտեն, որովհետև մյուս ուժերը, որոնք ներկայացված են ԱԺ-ում, այս կամ այն կերպ հայտնել են իրենց դիրքորոշումը: Հետևաբար, նախաձեռնությունն արվում է ոչ թե հաստատման, այլ ուրիշ նպատակների համար: 

Նախ, ԵԼՔ-ը փորձում է հակառուսականության և արևմտամետության էմոցիոնալ ալիքն օգտագործել աշնանանային նստաշրջանի ու քաղաքական զարգացումների այս փուլում մակերևույթին մնալու համար: Երկրորդ ՝ հասկանալով, որ ամեն դեպքում այս իրավիճակում հնարավոր չի լինելու նախաձեռնությունը հասցնել հաստատման, ԵԼՔ-ը փորձում է ինտրիգ մտցնել Հայաստանի արտաքին քաղաքական կողմնորոշման հարցում: Երրորդ ՝ այս պահին այդ նախաձեռնությունը կարող է ձեռք տալ միայն Սերժ Սարգսյանին, ով արդեն քանի տարի է լարված հարաբերություններ ունի եվրասիական իր գործընկերների հետ ու Հայաստանում հակառուսականության դրսևորումները օգտագործում է այդ հարաբերությունների սակարկման մեջ: 

Կարևոր չէ ՝ ԵԼՔ-ը վերոնշյալ երեք կետերը գիտակցելով է գնում այդ նախաձեռնության ներկայացմանը, թե ոչ: Կարևորն այն է, որ այն հերթական արկածախնդիր նախաձեռնությունն է, որ առաջին հայացքից լինելով ԵՏՄ-ի դեմ, չի էլ փորձում հասկանալ ԵՏՄ-Հայաստան հարաբերությունների կառուցվածքը, դրանց էությունը, ԵՏՄ անդամ երկրների հետ Հայաստանի հարաբերությունների բարելավման ուղիները, այլ ընդամենը հասարակական որոշակի շերտի էմոցիոնալ զգացմունքների վրա հիմնվելով կրկնում է արևմտամետ դիրքավորվող այլ ուժերի սխալը ՝ քաղաքական կյանքը պատկերում է սև ու սպիտակ երանգներով: 

Եվ այս իմաստով, ԵԼՔ-ի նախաձեռնությունը բացի ժամանակավոր տեղեկատվական առիթից այլ, լուրջ քաղաքական գործընթացի վերածվելու հեռանկար չունի:
