ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը հայտնել է, որ իսրայելցիների ու պաղեստինցիների միջեւ խաղաղության համաձայնագրի կնքումը կարող է դառնալ «ամենակոշտ գործարքը», որին ինքը երբեւէ մասնակցել է։ Նա հավելել է, որ վարչակազմը այդուհանդերձ աշխատում է տարածաշրջանում խաղաղություն հաստատելու ուղղությամբ։
Նրա խոսքով՝ ինքը կարող է «լավ կրակոց անել», եթե իրեն հաջողվի հասնել համաձայնագրի, որին չեն կարողացել հասնել իր նախորդները։ «Մենք լրջորեն դիտարկում ենք խաղաղության հաստատման հարցը, հնարավոր է վերջին հաշվով դա կլինի խաղաղություն ամբողջ Մերձավոր արեւելքի համար, ու ես կարծում եմ, որ մենք կարող ենք լավ կրակոց անել, գուցե լավագույնը, որ երբեւէ արվել է»,- ասել է Թրամփը, բացելով հանդիպումը Պաղեստինի առաջնորդ Մահմուդ Աբբասի հետ։
«Սա բարդ հարց է, որը միշտ ամենաբարդ գործարքն է համարվել։ Կարծում եմ, որ մենք լավ հնարավորություն ունենք։ Ես կգործադրեմ բոլոր ջանքերը համաձայնություն կնքելու համար»,- նշել է նա։
Աբբասն էլ իր հերթին վստահություն է հայտնել, որ կողմերը մոտ են համաձայնագրի կնքմանը։ «Այս հանդիպումը վկայում է մեկ տարվա ընթացքում կամ առաջիկա ամիսներին դարի համաձայնագիրը կնքելուն ուղղված ձեր ջանքերի լրջության մասին»,- ասել է Աբբասը Թրամփին։
