Կարծես ամեն բան ասված է երկրների անկախության մասին: Նաև մեր երկրի անկախության: Ըստ անհրաժեշտի ասում ենք բոլոր այն ճշմարտությունները, որոնք վերաբերում են այս հարցին: Եվ ասում ենք պատշաճ տոնայնությամբ, հպարտությամբ ու անբեկանելի հավատով առ ազատ ու ինքնուրույն ապրելու հնարավորությունը:
Իսկ այդ հնարավորությունը մեզ տրված է: Այն տրվել է ոչ դյուրին ճանապարհով: Անկախության համար մենք անցել ենք փորձությունների հսկա մի շրջան: Մենք չափել ենք մեր ուժը պատերազմի դաշտում: Մենք չափել ենք մեր ուժը, երբ մութն ու ցուրտը մի քանի տարի շարունակ եղել են մեր ուղեկիցը:
Մենք չափել ենք մեր ուժը, երբ այդ մութն ու ցուրտը համարել ենք որպես մեզ ընձեռված հնարավորություն, որպեսզի տնօրինենք մեր և մեր երկրի ճակատագիրը սեփական կամքով: Եվ սիրել ենք այդ օրերը` մութ ու ցրտի, պատերազմի ու զրկանքի այդ տարիները:
...Հիմքը ամուր էր, վեմի վրա մենք կառուցեցինք անկախության մեր տունը: Իսկ թե այսօր և սրանից հետո ինչպե՞ս կբարձրացնենք պատերը, թող հաշիվ տա յուրաքանչյուրը:
Որովհետև մեծ, շատ մեծ էր զոհողությունը: Հանուն անկախության մեր տան պատերը շաղախեցինք մեր այն որդիների արյամբ, նաև նրանց քրտինքով, ովքեր կամ այնտեղ` պատերազմի դաշտում, կամ այստեղ` պատերազմողների թիկունքում աշխատում, կռվում, մեռնում, հաղթում կամ պարտվում էին մեր անկախության համար:
Թող ընդունելի լինի այդ զոհողությունը:
