Հայ-ռուսական միացյալ զորախումբ ստեղծելու մասին համաձայնագիրը համար լրացուցիչ հնարավորություն է ստեղծելու ամրապնդելու Հայաստանի ռազմական անվտանգությունը ագրեսիայի անմիջական սպառնալիքի և Հայաստանի պետական սահմանների դեմ զինված հարձակման դեպքում: Ազգային ժողովում համաձայնագրի քննարկման ժամանակ նման տեսակետ հայտնեց ԱԺ ՀՀԿ խմբակցության պատգամավոր, պաշտպանության և անվտանգության հարցերի մշտական հանձնաժողովի նախագահ Կորյուն Նահապետյանը: «Սա ակնհայտ է: Այո, այսօր մեր զինված ուժերը, մեր պաշտպանական համակարգն է ապահովում այդ խնդիրը, բայց երկկողմ համաձայնագրի շրջանակներում մենք ավելացնելու ենք մեր հնարավորությունները»,- «Արմենպրես»-ի հաղորդմամբ՝ նշեց Նահապետյանը:

Նա հատուկ շեշտեց, որ համաձայնագիրը երկկողմ է, բազմակողմ չէ: «Որոշ գործընկերներ խոսում են Հավաքական անվտանգության պայմանագրի կազմակերպության մասին, որը միջազգային կազմակերպություն է, և  որին անդամակցում է նաև Հայաստանը: Այս համաձայնագրի շրջանակներում մենք բազմակողմ խնդիրներ չենք քննարկում: Սա վերաբերվում է երկու պետությունների՝ Հայաստանի և Ռուսաստանի համագործակցությանը միացյալ խմբավորման կազմավորման և գործունեության մասով»,- մանրամասնեց Նահապետյանը:

Համաձայնագրի վավերացման արդյունքում Հայաստանն օգտվելու է Ռուսաստանի Դաշնության զինված ուժերի, մասնավորապես Հարավային ռազմական օկրուգի ունեցած ռազմական հնարավորություններից: «Իսկ այդ հնարավորությունները բավականին ընդարձակ են: Պետք է նկատեմ, որ այն Ռուսաստանի Դաշնության պարագայում իր թվաքանակով, հզորությամբ և ազդեցությամբ երկրորդն է, և այդ զորախմբի տիեզերական, օդային, արբանյակային միջոցներից մենք օգտվելու հնարավորություն ենք ունենալու այն պայմաններում և այն պարագայում, որ նախատեսված է համաձայնագրով»,- եզրափակեց Նահապետյանը:
