ԵԽԽՎ նոր նախագահ է ընտրվել Կիպրոսի ներկայացուցիչ Ստելլա Կիրիակիդեսը

Եվրոպայի խորհրդի խորհրդարանական վեհաժողովի նոր նախագահ է ընտրվել Կիպրոսի ներկայացուցիչ Ստելլա Կիրիակիդեսը: Նրա օգտին քվեարկել է 132, իսկ մյուս թեկնածուի` Լիտվայի ներկայացուցիչ Էմանուելիս Զինգերիսի օգտին` 84 պատգամավոր:
ԵԽԽՎ հայաստանյան պատվիրակությունը վեհաժողովի նախագահի պաշտոնում պաշտպանել է Կիպրոսի ներկայացուցչի թեկնածությունը: Մինչ այս ԵԽԽՎ նախագահի ընտրության երկու փուլ էր անցկացվել: Առաջին երկու փուլերում թեկնածուներից որևէ մեկին չէր հաջողվել ձայների բացարձակ մեծամասնություն ստանալ` չնայած Կիպրոսի ներկայացուցիչը երկու դեպքում էլ ավելի շատ ձայներ է ստացել: Երրորդ փուլն անցկացվել է ձայների պարզ մեծամասնության սկզբունքով, որի արդյունքում հաղթող է ճանաչվել Ստելլա Կիրիակիդեսը: Նա կպաշտոնավարի մինչև ԵԽԽՎ ձմեռային նստաշրջանի մեկնարկը:
ԵԽԽՎ–ում հայաստանյան պատվիրակության ղեկավար Արփինե Հովհաննիսյանը «Ֆեյսբուք»–ի իր էջում գրել է, որ ԵԽԽՎ նախագահ ընտրվեց Ստելլա Կիրյակիդիսը` չնայած բոլոր այն աննախադեպ ճնշումներին, որ ԵԺԿ խմբի ղեկավարության ու բավական թվով անդամների կողմից կային նրա նկատմամբ: «Ինչպես եվրոպացի գործընկերներիցս մեկը ճշգրիտ նկատեց, «այս ընտրությամբ Վեհաժողովը ինքն իրեն վերադարձրեց հույսը»:
