 Հեռավոր Մալայզիայում թեպետ հայ համայնքը փոքրաթիվ է, սակայն մեծ է հայերի թողած հետքը: Դեռ 200 տարի առաջ, երբ Մալայզիան զարգացման նոր փուլ էր մտնում, իշխանությունները փորձում էին հրավիրել տարբեր կողմերի առևտրականների, բիզնեսմենների ուշադրությունը՝ նպաստելով ներդրումների զարգացմանը: Այդ փնտրտուքների ճանապարհին Մալայզիան հետաքրքրեց նաև հայերին: Հնում հայերը Մալայզիա են եկել հիմնականում Հնդկաստանից և Հին Ջուղայից, արմատավորվել այնտեղ և շատ կարճ ժամանակում վճռորոշ դեր են ունեցել տեղի տնտեսական, մշակութային և ճարտարապետական պատմության մեջ:

Ինչպես «Արմենպրես»-ի հետ զրույցում նշեց Մալայզիայի հայ համայնքի ղեկավար Էմիլ Պետրոսյանը, հայերի թողած հետքը շատ նշանակալի է:

«Մինչև հիմա կան կանգուն շենքեր, որոնք ժամանակին կառուցվել են հայերի կողմից: Դրանց թվում կա մեծ թանգարան-հյուրանոց (Eastern and Oriental hotel), որտեղ պահպանվել են նաև հիմնադիր հայերի անունները: Հյուրանոցի մասնաշենքները, սենյակները հիմնադիրների անուններով են կոչված: Այսօր Կուալա Լումպուրում կան հայկական փողոցներ. մեկը կոչվում է Արմենիա (Armenian Street), մյուսը՝ Արատուն (Aratoon Road): Ի դեպ, դրանք ամենահայտնի փողոցներից են և միշտ զբոսաշրջիկների հետաքրքրությունների կենտրոնում են»,-ասաց Էմիլ Պետրոսյանը:

Տարիների ընթացքում տեղի հայերը տեղափոխվել են այլ երկրներ: Սկզբում Սինգապուր, այնուհետև առաջին համաշխարհային պատերազմի ժամանակ՝ Ավստրալիա, Նոր Զելանդիա: 1930-ական թվականներից հետո Մալայզիայում բնակվող հայերի մասին տեղեկություն չկա:

Տարիներ անց Մալայզիայում հայերը սկսել են հաստատվել 2000-ական թվականներից: Արդի հայկական համայնքի ձևավորումը սկսվում է այդ շրջանից: Ներկայում Մալայզիայում բնակվող փոքրաթիվ հայերը կենտրոնացած են հիմնականում Կուալա Լումպուրում։ Էմիլ Պետրոսյանի խոսքով, ներկայում մոտ 45 հայ է ապրում:

«Տեղի հայերը տարբեր երկրներից են: Հայաստանից տեղափոխված ընտանքիները մի քանիսն են: Քիչ չեն խառն ամուսնությունները: Նրանց գործունեության ոլորտները տարբեր են՝ բիզնես, հեռահաղորդակցություն, ծառայություններ, կրթություն, ֆինանսներ: Նրանցից շատերը առաջատար մասնագետներ են»,-ասաց Էմիլ Պետրոսյանը:

Մալայզիայում հայկական դպրոց չկա, հետևաբար հայոց լեզվի պահպանության գլխավոր պատասխանատվությունն ընտանիքիների ուսերին է: Մալայզիայում չկա նաև հայկական եկեղեցի, սակայն դա ամենևին չի խանգարում այնտեղ հայերենով աղոթք հնչեցնելուն:

Այս տարի հայ համայնքի համար պատմական իրադարձություն տեղի ունեցավ: Կուալա Լումպուրի Սուրբ Միքայել Հրեշատակապետ եկեղեցում (Ռուս Ուղղափառ) փետրվարի 4-ին առաջին անգամ մատուցվեց Սուրբ պատարագ՝ ձեռամբ Հոգեշնորհ Տեր Զավեն Վարդապետ Յազիչյանի:

«Սա իսկապես պատմական պահ էր: Տասնյակ տարիներ այստեղ հայերենով աղոթք չէր հնչել: Համայնքի կազմակերպչական ջանքերով արվեց դա: Պատարագին ներկա են եղել համայնքի բոլոր անդամները, հյուրեր, հայ ազգի բարեկամներ: Սուրբ Պատարագի ավարտին տեղի է ունեցել Սուրբ Մկրտություն: Երեք մանուկ կնքվել է»,-պատմում է Էմիլ Պետրոսյանը:

Անդրադառնալով մալայզիացիների շրջանում Հայաստանի մասին տեղեկացվածությանը՝ Էմիլ Պետրոսյանը նշեց, որ հայերի մասին գիտեն, բայց Հայաստան պետության մասին՝ ոչ: Շատերը ինֆորմացված չեն Հայաստանի, նրա աշխարհագրական դիրքի, զբոսաշրջային հնարավորությունների մասին: Այդ ուղղությամբ շատ աշխատանք կա կատարելու: Էմիլ Պետրոսյանը նկատեց, որ վերջին շրջանում Հայաստանի ճանաչմանը նպաստում է Հենրիխ Մխիթարյանը:

Ինչ վերաբերում է Հայաստանից Մալայզիա զբոսաշրջային հոսքին, ապա այն նույնպես պասիվ է: Էմիլ Պետրոսյանը դա կապում է ուղևորության թանկ լինելու հետ:
