Հայաստան-Եվրոպական Միություն Համապարփակ և ընդլայնված գործընկերության համաձայնագիրը նոր հնարավորություններ է բացելու Հայաստանի զարգացման համար: Ազգային ժողովում հայտարարությունների ժամին նման հայտարարությամբ հանդես եկավ ՀՀ ԱԺ արտաքին հարաբերությունների մշտական հանձնաժողովի նախագահ, ՀՀԿ խմբակցության պատգամավոր Արմեն Աշոտյանը: «Եվրամիության հետ մեր համագործակցությունը կարող է կարևոր դերակատարություն ունենալ նաև տարածաշրջանի անվտանգության համար: Կարևոր է նաև այն հանգամանքը, որ համաձայնագրով նախատեսված ոչ մի բարեփոխում դրսից պարտադրված չէ, այն ամբողջությամբ բխում է մեր ներքին օրակարգից»,- «Արմենպրես»-ի փոխանցմամբ՝ ընդգծեց Աշոտյանը:

Անդրադառնալով համաձայնագրի ստորագրման գործընթացում առաջացող տեխնիկական խնդիրներին՝ Աշոտյանը կարծիք հայտնեց, որ դրանք բնական են և շեշտեց, որ Հայաստանն իր գործն արել է, և հիմա «եվրոպացի գործընկերների տնային աշխատանքը կատարելու հերթն է»:

Նա ակնկալում է, որ համաձայնագրի ստորագրումից հետո քաղաքական «ավելին ավելիի դիմաց» քաղաքական բանաձևը, որը կիրառում է ԵՄ-ն տնտեսության մեջ, քաղաքական առումով կկիրառվի նաև Հայաստանի նկատմամբ: Արմեն Աշոտյանը ողջունելի է համարում արցախյան հակամարտության կարգավորման հետ կապված ձևակերպումները, որոնք տրված են համաձայնագրում՝ հիշեցնելով, որ ԵՄ-ն քանիցս իր սատարումն է հայտնել ԵԱՀԿ Մինսկի խմբի համանախագահների գործունեությանը:
