«Վարդաշեն» քրեակատարողական հիմնարկում երեկ աժիոտաժ էր, բուռն նախապատրաստական աշխատանքներ էին ընթանում: Տարածքը բարեկարգում էին, ստուգում աշխատողների հագուստները, որպեսզի ամեն ինչ կարգին լինի, քանի որ, ըստ շրջանառվող խոսակցությունների, «Վարդաշեն» պետք է այցելեին պաշտոնյաներ՝ հանդիպելու Շանթ Հարությունյանի հետ:

Հիշեցնենք, որ «Նոյեմբերի 5-ի» գործով դատապարտյալ Շանթ Հարությունյանն ավելի վաղ հայտարարություն էր տարածել՝ նշելով, որ իր կյանքին սպառնացող վտանգ կա․ գեներալ Արզուման Հարությունյանը՝ ՍԴ նախագահի եղբայրը, ով «ոչ միայն ռուսական, այլեւ Ադրբեջանի ԿԳԲ-ի գործակալ է, ցանկանում է իրեն սպանել»։ Դատապարտյալը ցանկանում էր տեղեկություններ հաղորդել ոստիկանապետին եւ Պնախարարին»:
