Սարգսյան-Պուտին հանդիպումը Հայաստանին ըստ էության վերադարձրեց Ժնևին նախորդող դիվանագիտական սահմանագիծ: Արևմտյան քաղաքական շրջանակները կրկին խոսեցին Վիեննայի պայմանավորվածությունների մասին ՝ անուղղակի, իսկ Սերժ Սարգսյանն այդ մասին խոսեց արդեն ուղիղ հղմամբ:

Կրկին Հայաստանի բախտը բերեց և Ժնևում մոռացության մատնված անվտանգության երաշխիքները դարձան արդիական: Հայաստանան այդ երաշխիքները զիջել էր Ադրբեջանին և Ռուսաստանին, սակայն Արևմուտքի ճնշմամբ դրանք նորից օրակարգային են դառնում:

Փաստացի Հայաստանն այլև սուբյեկտ ու բանակցային կողմ չէ ղարաբաղյան կոնֆլիկտի հարցում: Ղարաբաղյան կոնֆլիկտը Սերժ Սարգսյանի համար ներքաղաքական լեգիտիմությունը սակարկելու գործիք է: Իսկ կոնֆլիկտի կողմերն արդեն Արևմուտքը, Ռուսաստանն ու Ադրբեջանն են: Հայաստանի բախտը պարզապես բերում է, որովհետև Արևմուտքում հաճախ կայացնում են այնպիսի որոշումներ, որոնք թույլ չեն տալիս Ռուսաստանին լիարժեք տնօրինել ղարաբաղյան փաթեթը:

Սերժ Սարգսյանի մեկնարկային նախաձեռնողականությունը երկու դրվագով ձախողվեց ՝ հայ-թուրքական արձանագրությունների և ասոցացման պայմանագրի տեսքով: Այժմ նախաձեռնողականությունը տեղը զիջել է սպասողականությանը: Սարգսյանը հույս ունի, որ կկարողանա աշխարհաքաղաքական խաղատախտակում տիրող քաոսի միջո մանևրել ՝ առնվազն պահելով ստատուս-քվոն:
