Հունիսի 16-ին լրատվամիջոցները հաղորդեցին, որ Լոս Անջելեսում 98 տարեկանում կյանքից հեռացել է կինոարտադրության, ավիաուղիների և Լաս Վեգասի խաղատների շնորհիվ կարողություն կուտակած ամերիկահայ միլիարդատեր, բարերար Քըրք Քրքորյանը: Նա կարող էր իրավամբ համարվել «աշխարհի ամենահետաքրքիր տղամարդը», գրում է ամերիկյան Time թերթի կայքը և ներկայացնում հինգ հետաքրքիր փաստ, որոնց շնորիվ Քրքորյանի կյանքի պատմությունն այդքան զարմանալի է և ուշագրավ:

 Քրքորյանը 3 անգամ՝ տարբեր տարիների, կառուցել է «աշխարհի ամենամեծ հյուրանոց-խաղատունը»։ Երեք անգամ «Լաս Վեգասի հայրը» կառուցել և բացել է հյուրանոց-խաղատներ, որոնք համարվել են այդ ժամանակ աշխարհում ամենամեծը: Դրանք բոլորը եղել են Լաս Վեգասում՝ International-ը (այժմ՝ Westgate Las Vegas)՝ 1969 թվականին, MGM Grand-ը (Bally’s Las Vegas)՝ 1973 թվականին, և ներկայիս MGM Grand Las Vegas-ը՝ 1993 թվականին: Տարբեր տարիների Քրքորյանին են պատկանել Վեգասի հայտնի սեփականությունները՝ Desert Inn-ը, Sands-ը և Flamingo-ն, ինչպես նաև հողատարածքը, որն այժմ զբաղեցնում է Caesars Palace-ը:

 Նա դուրս է եկել դպրոցից ութերորդ դասարանում: Լրատվամիջոցներից խուսափող մեծահարուստը ծնվել է Կալիֆորնիայում, աղքատ ամերիկահայ ընտանիքում և սկսել է թերթեր վաճառել և տարբեր աշխատանքներով զբաղվել 9 տարեկանից: Անկարգ աշակերտի համբավ ձեռք բերելուց հետո դուրս է եկել դպրոցից և սկսել «Rifle Right Kerkorian» մականունով պրոֆեսիոնալ բռնցքամարտիկի կարիերա անել: Երկրորդ համաշխարհային պատերազմի տարիներին նա առաքելությունների է մասնակցել Մեծ Բրիտանիայի թագավորական ռազմաօդային ուժերի համար, և 1950-1960-ականներին Լաս Վեգասում ձեռք է բերել խաղամոլի, իսկ ավելի ուշ՝ խոշոր գործարքներ կնքողի հեղինակություն:

 Նա փորձել է գնել և վաճառել մի շարք ավտոարտադրող ընկերություններ, ավիաուղիներ և կինոստուդիաներ: «Գործարքներ անելն է, որ նրան ողջ է պահում»,- 2005 թվականին Քրքորյանի մասին ասել է ավտոարտադրության ոլորտի հանրահայտ մենեջեր Լի Յակոկան՝ Chrysler-ի ղեկավարությունը ստանձնելու անհաջող փորձից մեկ տասնամյակ անց: Քրքորյանը նաև խոշոր ներդրումներ է արել Ford-ում և GM-ում, փորձել է գնել TWA-ն: Նրան է պատկանել մեկ այլ  ավիափոխադրող՝ Western Airlines-ը: Այս ընթացքում նա նաև ժամանակ է ունեցել խոշոր գործարար լինել նաև կինոարտադրության ոլորտում: Նա 3 անգամ գնել և վաճառել է MGM կինոստուդիան, փորձել է գնել Columbia Pictures-ը և գնել է United Artists-ը: Միևնույն ժամանակ, ինչպես նշում է The Hollywood Reporter-ը, ասում էին, որ նա առանձնապես չէր հետաքրքրվում ֆիլմերով:

 Նա ամսական 100.000 դոլար է վճարել երեխայի համար՝ մեկ ամիս տևած ամուսնությունից հետո: 2010 թվականին Քրքորյանը համաձայնել է 100.000 դոլար վճարել որպես ալիմենտ Կիրայի համար, ով այդ ժամանակ 12 տարեկան էր: Տեղեկությունների համաձայն՝ նա նաև 10 միլիոն դոլար է վճարել Կիրայի մորը՝ իրենից 48 տարի փոքր թենիսիստուհի Լիզա Բոնդերին՝ նախկինում չվճարված ալիմենտների համար: Քրքորյանը վճարել է գումարը, չնայած նրան, որ ապացուցվել է, որ նա չի եղել Կիրայի կենսաբանական հայրը:

 Նա չորս անգամ ավելի հարուստ է եղել, քան իր կյանքի վերջին օրերին: Քրքորյանն աշխարհի երկրորդ ամենատարեց միլիարդատերն է եղել՝ 4 միլիարդ դոլար կարողությամբ՝ զիջելով աշխարհի ամենատարեց միլիարդատեր 100 տարեկան Դևիդ Ռոքֆելլերին: Այնուամենայնիվ, դեռևս 2008 թվականին Քրքորյանի կարողությունը 16 միլիարդ դոլար է եղել: Մինչ Քրքորյանը շռայլ գումարներ վատնող չի եղել (նա որոշ ժամանակ Ford Taurus էր վարում), նույնը չի կարելի ասել երիտասարդ Քրքորյանների մասին, գրում է ամերիկյան Time-ը։
