Բրիտանիայի Լորդերի պալատում քննարկվել է Հայոց ցեղասպանության հարցը

Մեծ Բրիտանիայի Լորդերի պալատում հունիսի 16-ին քննարկվել է Հայոց ցեղասպանության հարցը։

 Բրիտանիայի խորհրդարանի պաշտոնական կայքում նշվում է, որ հարցը բարձրացրել է բարոնուհի Քերոլայն Քոքսը՝ հարցնելով, թե արդյո՞ք Բրիտանիան պատրաստվում է 1915 թվականին հայերի, հույների ու ասորիների սպանությունները ճանաչել որպես ցեղասպանություն։

 Հարցին ի պատասխան Քորթաունի կոմս Ջեյմս Սթոփֆորդը հայտնել է, որ իրենք ճանաչում են 20-րդ դարասկզբին Օսմանյան կայսրությունում հայ ժողովրդի և այլ խմբերի սարսափելի տառապանքները։

 «Հիշելով ու հարգելով անցյալի զոհերին՝ մենք հավատում ենք, որ Բրիտանիայի առաջնահերթությունը պետք է լինի Թուրքիայի և Հայաստանի ժողովուրդներին ու կառավարություններին օգնելը, որպեսզի միասին առերեսվեն համատեղ պատմությանը»,-ասել է նա։

 Ի պատասխան բարոնուհի Քոքսը հիշեցրել է, որ աշխարհի ավելի քան 20 երկրներ, այդ թվում՝ Ֆրանսիան, Կանադան, Լեհաստանը, Չիլին ու Ավստրիան, ճանաչել են 1.5 մլն հայերի, հույների ու ասորիների զանգվածային սպանությունները։ Նաև հիշեցրել է Հռոմի պապ Ֆրանցիսկոսի հայտարարությունը Հայոց ցեղասպանության մասին ու հարցրել՝ Մեծ Բրիտանիայի տեսակետն այդ հարցում չի՞ փոխվելու։

 «Մենք հարգում ենք նրա (Հռոմի պապի) տեսակետն ու համաձայնում, որ պատմության դասերին առերեսվելը կարող է կանխել հետագայում նման դեպքերի կրկնությունը»,-ի պատասխան ասել է կոմսը։

 Քննարկման ընթացքում Լորդերի պալատի ներկայացուցիչներն անդրադարձել են նաև հայ-թուրքական հարաբերություններին, հետաքրքրվել, թե Միացյալ Թագավորությունն այժմ ինչ քայլեր է ձեռնարկում այդ հարաբերությունների կարգավորման համար։ Կարևորվել է Թուրքիայում հունիսի 7-ին կայացած խորհրդարանական ընտրությունների արդյունքում խորհրդարանում հայկական ծագմամբ ներկայացուցիչների առկայությունը։
