Հայ մարզիկների առաջին մասնակցությունը Օլիմպիական խաղերին

Այս օրերին Հարավային Կորեայում ընթանում են հերթական ձմեռային Օլիմպիական խաղերը, և համաշխարհային սպորտի այդ մեծ փառատոնին մասնակցում են նաև մեր երկրի ներկայացուցիչները:
Իսկ ահա հայ մարզիկների կողմից համաշխարհային օլիմպիադաներին առաջին մասնակցությունն արձանագրվել է դեռևս 1912 թվականին: Այդ տարի Ստոկհոլմում կայացած ամառային Օլիմպիական խաղերին մասնակցեցին նաև Օսմանյան կայսրության երկու ներկայացուցիչներ՝ թեթև ատլետներ Վահրամ Փափազյանը (վազք, նկարում՝ ձախից) և Մկրտիչ Մկրյանը (հնգամարտ, նկարում՝ աջից): Ներկայացվող պատկերում բերված են այդ իրադարձության մասին Վիքիպեդիայի տվյալները:
Վահրամ Փափազյանն ու Մկրտիչ Մկրյանը մեկնել էին Ստոկհոլմ հայ համայնքի կողմից հանգանակված գումարներով՝ թուրքական կառավարությունը գումար չէր հատկացրել պոլսահայ մարզիկներին: Դրամահավաքը կազմակերպվել էր Օսմանյան կայսրության բոլոր հայաշատ համայնքներում: Նշենք, որ Թուրքիայում 20-րդ դարասկզբին մեծ հետաքրքրություն կար սպորտի հանդեպ, իսկ հայերը լավագույն մարզիկների համբավ ունեին երկրում և իրենց պատվի հարցն էին համարում Օլիմպիական խաղերին մասնակցելը:
Հետաքրքիր է, որ արդեն Ստոկհոլմում պարզվեց, որ գլխավոր մարզահրապարակում Օլիմպիական խաղերի բոլոր մասնակից երկրների դրոշները ծածանվում են՝ բացի Օսմանյան կայսրության: Թուրքական կազմկոմիտեի ներկայացուցիչը բողոք է ներկայացնում և պահանջում է բարձրացնել նաև իրենց դրոշը: Դրան ի պատասխան օլիմպիադայի կազմակերպիչները բացատրում են, որ Օսմանյան կայսրության դրոշն իրենք միտումնավոր չեն կախել, և դա արված է ի նշան բողոքի թուրքական կառավարության դեմ, որը հալածանքների է ենթարկում հայ ու հույն ազգաբնակչությանը, և հատկապես մատնանշվել է 1909-ին Ադանայում տեղի ունեցած հայերի դաժան կոտորածը:
