Գիրքը, գրականությունը, մեր մտերիմն է, սրտակից ընկերը: Այն նորանոր հորիզոններ է բացում մեր առաջ, հնարավորություն տալիս ճանաչել աշխարհը, մարդկային բարդ ու խճճված հարաբերությունները, սովորեցնում է սիրել, երազել, պայքարել ու նույնիսկ... կյանքդ փոխել:
Գրքի նկատմամբ հետաքրքրությունն ու սերը մեծացնելու համար հայ մեծ բանաստեղծ Հովհաննես Թումանյանի ծննդյան օրը՝ փետրվարի 19-ը, Հայաստանում նշվում է որպես Գիրք նվիրելու օր։
Մի առիթով Հայաստանի գրողների միության նախագահ, բանաստեղծ Էդվարդ Միլիտոնյանն ընդգծել է, որ պատահական չէ գիրք նվիրելու օրը հենց Թումանյանի ծննդյան օրվա հետ կապելը:
«Անդրկովկասում չկար գրողների միություն, սակայն Թումանյանը ստեղծել էր «Վերնատունը», որն ինքնին գրողների միություն էր»,- նշել է նա:
Գիրք նվիրելը Հայաստանում արդեն սիրելի ավանդույթ է դառնում:
ՀՀ մշակույթի նախարարությունը և Հայաստանի գրողների միությունը, ՀՀ կառավարության որոշման համաձայն, յուրաքանչյուր տարի Գիրք նվիրելու օրը պետական պատվերով և աջակցությամբ հրատարակված և չվաճառված գրքերը բաշխում են մարզային և համայնքային, ինչպես նաև Արցախի և Ջավախքի գրադարանների միջև:
