Խեցգետին-պայտ. նա փրկում է մարդկային կյանքեր

Ամենաշատ մարդկային կյանքեր փրկող կենդանիներն են կա՛մ շունը, կա՛մ ձին, կա՛մ էլ անգամ փոստային աղավնին։
Իրականում ամենաշատ մարդկային կյանքեր փրկում է քիչ հայտնի մի արարած, որը միաժամանակ հանդիսանում է նաև մեր մոլորակի ամենահին բնակիչներից մեկը՝ խեցգետին–պայտը (Limulus polyphemus)։
Խեցգետին–պայտը ապրում է օվկիանոսների ծանծաղուտներում, ունի մինչև 60 սմ երկարություն, պայտի նմանվող պատյան և սրածայր պոչ (այդտեղից էլ նրանց դասում են սրապոչների դասում)։ Սրանք ըստ էության խեցգետիններ էլ չեն, քանի որ գենետիկորեն ավելի շատ մոտ են սարդերին, տզերին և կարիճներին։ Կենդանի օրգանիզմների այս խումբն առաջացել է դեռևս օրդովիկի շրջանում՝ դինոզավրերից 200 միլիոն տարի առաջ։ Խեցգետին–պայտը կարծես թե այլ մոլորակից եկած արարած լինի։ Նրանք կարող են դիմանալ էքստրեմալ սառը և ցուրտ եղանակներին, մեկ տարի չսնվել, ապրել խիստ կեղտոտ միջավայրում։
Խեցգետին–պայտի արյունը, որը կոչվում է հեմոլիմֆա, երկնագույն է, քանի որ չի պարունակում հեմոգլոբին (թթվածին տեղափոխող տարրը երկաթն է), այլ պարունակում է հեմոցիանին (երկաթի փոխարեն՝ պղինձ)։ Հեմոլիմֆան (կոչվում է «լիմուլուս– ամեբոցիտ–լիզատ» կամ «ԼԱԼ») անփոխարինելի է վակցինաների, դեղերի և բժշկական սարքերի թեսթավորման համար։ Այս կենդանին չունի իմուն համակարգ և չի կարող արտադրել հակամարմիններ, փոխարենը նրա հեմոլիմֆան ունի այն հատկությունը, որ եթե որևէ վիրուս կամ բակտերիա ընկնում է օրգանիզմ, այն արգելափակվում է սպիտակուցների մակարդուկով։ Հենց այս պրոցեսն էլ օգտագործվում է թեսթավորման ընթացքում և այդ միջոցով փրկվում են բազմաթիվ մարդկային կյանքեր։
Խեցգետին–պայտի հեմոլիմֆան ստանալու համար նրանց չեն սպանում, տարեկան մեկ անգամ հավաքում են ձեռքերով, տեղափոխում լաբորատորիա և հեմոլիմֆայի 30 տոկոսը քաշում. դրանից կենդանին չի վնասվում։ Հեմոլիմֆայի մեկ լիտրի արժեքը 15000 դոլար է։ Ասիական որոշ երկրներում խեցգետին–պայտի միսը ուտում են, իսկ Ամերիկայի հնդիկները նրանց պատյանը օգտագործում էին որպես շերեփ։
Դե, կյանքում էլ քիչ չեն նրանք, որոնց կարելի է հանգիստ համարել խեցգետին–պայտ։ Առաջին հերթին նրանց արյունը սկսում է երկնագույն դառնալ (հնում համարում էին, որ թագավորների արյունը երկնագույն է), նրանք փակվում են իրենց «պատյաններում», հարստությունն ակնառու է, իսկ ըստ եկամուտների հայտարարագրերի՝ պարզվում է, որ նրանք մեկ տարի է՝ ոչինչ չեն կերել։ Միայն մի տարբերություն. հազիվ թե նմանների հեմոլիմֆան այդքան թանկ արժենա:
